Absolutely brilliant pub - beautifully well kept Harvey's, good selection of beer and really nice food. Can vouch for it as we went there twice over our long weekend in Newhaven, for lunch and dinner. Was also pleasantly surprised to see they have a decent range of veggie options (veggie burger which I had, and was really tasty, veggie sausages and mash, and a vegan bean stew). They also occasionally have bands on. Love the Hope, will definitely be back.

Excellent pub. Good beer, good food, good service. Live music a bonus on Fridays. A really good local and place to come and visit.

A proper pub that does proper food. A genuine welcome and people who care. Small but imaginative menu, all home cooked. Not expensive. Harbour views. Balcony gives even better views. Impressive place to be when the ferry enters or leaves port!

Nice and friendly pub, with a decent menu...popular with both locals and visitors...especially on weekends and bank holidays. The owner ALWAYS calls my brother on his mobile...if they get a delivery of Theakstone's Old Peculiar...his favourite ale. Certainly worth a visit. UPDATE: On my last visit, on a particularly wet and windy day...the stink from the wet coats, of some 15+ dogs...was akin to some Victorian Lavy. What was worse, was the inconsiderate owners, putting scraps of food on the table's edge for their precious little things to lick off? One couple even put their plates on the floor...so that the dogs could lick them clean!!! Aside from this. It is still a lovely pub. Just avoid it on wet dog days!!!
