We and our guests had the most wonderful Sunday roast dinner today. The food was very well cooked and there was so much of it and included all the vegetables as well as cauliflower cheese at no extra cost. So, very good value for money. The staff are all so helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The ambience is convivial and warm. Great to see the log burners being used. It all adds up to a lovely experience. Thank you all for making our lunch so enjoyable.
What a fantastic pub!! Recently we have visited a number of places and been so disappointed by the food… the Hood arms has restored our faith in good food in a great setting. The food was superb and the atmosphere and staff matched it. My wife spent 20 years in Kilve growing up and we haven’t visited in a number of years .. so glad we did!! Highly recommend.. we will be back !! John & Erica
We turned up for Sunday lunch with no reservations, just a fancy for the place as we drove past it on the way for a walk in the Quantock Hills. We walked in through the front door to find the Hood Arms heftily packed with diners. We figured we were in trouble! However, we were greeted with smiles from the staff, and apologies that whilst they could manage to squeeze us in, they'd sold out of a number of dishes on the menu. They offered us to contact other local eateries to see if they had space, but the time was already 3:40pm and we knew we were already pushing our luck for somewhere to eat. What can I say? The staff were wonderful, they more than accommodated our needs 6 diners - 3 of which veggie one gluten free and a fussy eater! They tweaked our orders to satisfy what they had left on the menu with what we fancied, service was also prompt and attentive. They'd clearly had a busy day and we turned up no doubt just as they were hoping to clear away, but despite that they were an absolute delight. The food? The food was superb.
Staff in the pub are the best. Guy who served us was very cheerful and did a great job. Food was delicious to say the least. The only downside is the noisy road just outside the roomRooms: 4/5
Didn't stay, so can't comment on accommodation, but we stopped for something to eat on our way home from New Year travels. Lovely atmosphere, VERY friendly, smiling staff and excellent food and drink. Definitely to be recommended.
I was a difficult customer as soon as I walked in, asking for our reserved table to be changed to one further from the door. The staff were so lovely about this, and offered us another table that was just perfect, and with no 'attitude ' that can sometimes result from such a request. The pleasant service continued through lunch, which was exceptional. A Scotch egg starter with beautifully soft yolk and the lightest, crispiest coating, then a generous plateful of Sunday roast and all the trimmings. Sticky toffee pudding up with the best I've ever had. We loved it, would highly recommend. Nearby activities: Close to Kilve Beach on the North Devon coast, a place renowned for its fossils. Perfect for lunch after a morning of hunting.
We stayed for a couple of nights and had a great time! Lovely location close to Kilve beach and some nice walks, really delicious food and friendly, helpful staff. Also one of the best showers I've ever used!Rooms: 5/5
Fabulous place / dog friendly in the pub and they have three dog friendly rooms - we were made really welcome - Dinner was excellent, food served with a smile. Room was very comfortable clean and a lovely warm shower - and our full english breakfast was the perfect start to the day!Rooms: 5/5
What a lovely place this is Friendly ,cosy but also has a modern twist Room was beautiful, clean and the bedding smelt so fresh. Bed was spacious and comfy. Breakfast was delicious and I was given both frothy milk or cold milk to go with my coffee little touches make a real difference. Staff were all very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Thankyou. Would definitely recommend The Hood Arms.
What a gem of a place. The outside is deceptive to the gorgeous interior with a couple of stoves lit and chucking out warmth on a grey wintery day. The reception was amazing which made us want to stay and enjoy some scrumptious food off the lunchtime menu. Even the dog we had with us had treatment above & beyond with a shower and towels provided. Definitely another visit to be made.
