Food was decent for the price affordable. The lad on table service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Much more so than those behind the bar. Almost nobody was in the pub, there was no atmosphere and it was very cold fire wasn’t lit. It definitely didn’t make you want to stay for another drink or a pudding - although they had some that sounded lovely on the specials board. It’s a shame, but The Hollybush is usually like this in my experience. It’s one of my closest pubs but I rarely visit as usually underwhelms. Edit - To respond to the owner. It was Easter Sunday, there was a young lad serving and a girl behind the bar plus a lady on a laptop behind her. I don't 'buy' the boiler excuse - just look down the recent reviews, several of them mention it being cold! I feel like you've just tried to prove me wrong here rather than actually take the comments on board. I hope that clears up your 'confusion'.
We came to the pub to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday, from start to finish they were nothing but fantastic, we pre ordered as there were 22 of us, nothing was too much trouble and communication was great. Food and service was also fantastic one of the party commented it was the best pub steak they’ve ever had! It catered for us all from my dad enjoying the pedigree beer to the kids enjoying the play area and bouncy castle. We will definitely return, I can’t recommend highly enough. It’s had to find a traditional country pub that all ages can enjoy. Thanks to you all at the Hollybush for a great evening
Food is always spot on, all the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is homemade and delicious. You can tell a great deal of effort goes into every meal. Puddings also fab, and presented amazingly too. Well done Hollybush, you’re doing great in a difficult time for pubs. Keep up the hard work and ignore the time wasters who want everything for nothing these days. Kid-friendliness: High chair provided on request and children very welcome.
We popped in here to meet friends for lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing a good service. We had drinks and food, including pie plus chicken in a Stilton sauce. Both served with chips and peas. It was hot and delicious. There's a car park behind the pub and on street parking, if it's full. The bathrooms were clean and tidy. I believe dogs are welcome on short leads. The pub was quite busy for a Friday lunch in February, so it might be wise to pre-book a table. The reason for the 3 stars for the atmosphere is that the pub was absolutely freezing. We had to keep our coats on - not ideal! There was an electric fire, but it wasn't blowing any warm air, which would have been more welcoming.
Food 11/10 service 11/10 Great village pub with a massive investment to the village coming soon, definitely a pub to watch out for! Also Finn behind the bar is amazing. Keep up the good work. Parking: Massive free car park

We took my mum for a meal at the Holly Bush, at the end of November, for her birthday. The food was excellent. This prompted us to look at their Christmas menu and book a table. Four of us had the Christmas menu today. The food was faultless. Veg cooked perfectly and very generous portions. The staff were lovely and friendly. It was a little cold in the pub to start with, but did warm up a bit later on. A really enjoyable experience and looking forward to our next visit there.
