Just another Wetherspoons really… This one holds a special place in my heart as it’s the place my fiancée and I had our first date. We have been here a lot since meeting 4 years ago and most of the time the experience is a positive one, the staff are always helpful and most of them are smiley and friendly - you just get the odd one or two who barely speak. The food is as you’d expect from a Wetherspoons, I will use tonight’s meal as my review focus… It was “steak club” tonight so I went for the gourmet sirloin steak which includes a sauce, onion rings and chips for £12.47 on the app the physical menu says a cheaper price so who knows - the prices have rocketed up over the last year anyways The steak arrived along with everyone else’s meals but my peppercorn sauce never arrived, I went to find a member of staff to ask him to get the sauce for me but he went to the bar first to check our order to make sure that I should have a sauce - I understand people could take advantage but I felt this was a bit unnecessary and took more time than it needed to. The steak itself was actually quite good, it was nice and succulent with plenty of flavour, I always go for slightly less cooked than I’d ideally have a steak as it always seems to get overcooked a little The chips were ok, just your typical ‘spoons chips. The mushroom was a bit pathetic, one tiny mushroom might as well not be there. The sauce when it arrived was nice too, very flavoursome and definitely full of peppercorns! The onion rings were decent, I’m not the biggest fan of onion rings anymore but these had a nice flavour, they were just a little soft in texture. Overall, it’s a chain place for food with a generally good atmosphere, not quite as affordable as it used to be but still cheaper than a normal restaurant meal - for now anyway.
Only one person serving on day of visit. Staff were pleasant. Get what you pay for.
Food was late. Had to ask the staff the info and one of them was very unfriendly. No apology, just replied saying food usually takes 25 mins with an attitude. I thought the website say delivery within 10? Anyways food arrived 30 minutes. It was below average and not worth the wait. Worst weatherspoons I've experienced so far.
First bad meal here; always gave good reviews previous. Had the "new" steak and kidney pudding with chips and peas. Think they need to research what a pudding is, in fact, the one I got resembled a very hard crusted pie, turned upside down! Puddings are supposed to be soft and moist. It was also very small so I was still hungry, and the gravy was cold.
Grubbiest spoons I have ever been to, in serious need of a makeover grubby old wobbly tables, badly worn carpet, grubby decoration. More of a greasy spoons than a Wetherspoons, food portioning inconsistant and often very small for the now far more expensive costs. Staff all very nice though.
Called in for a early bite to eat about 17.30 absolutely heaving took a while to get a seat still a nice place and service was good staff spot on.
One big room. 7 real ales on. Good friendly staff. Standard spoons menu.
Our local pub which we visit mainly for breakfast Prompt service, freshly made food, unlimited tea/coffee Clean premises, although some areas could do with a bit of paint and it would be nice to see new carpets. Staff always polite.
