My dad received end of life care here and he was provided with genuine compassion, tlc, dignity and professionalism from all the nurses and carers. You are welcomed into the home as a family, everyone smiles and says hello, communication is open and you are advised daily. The environment is spotlessly clean. As a family we would not hesitate in recommending this nursing home
My experience of the Heather's Nursing Home is extremely positive. My Dad was taken in just over one month ago. We all found the place to of been so well kept and clean. All the staff no matter what rank were so helpful.
My aunt was in here for for a while and in my opinion it's the best care home I've had dealing with ..I was a bit worried when she went in seeing the reviews on other care homes but there was nothing to worry about its a lovely place and the staff are wonderful your loved ones couldn't be in better hands highly recommended x
Mixed opinion on this home. My 88-year-old mother was admitted after she had a bad break of her ankle and had spent some time in hospital. She was discharged to the Heathers for what they call "Discharge to Access" before she could be safely returned home. She had no choice in the selection of the home. Positives: the home, room and equipment were all good, clean and functional. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Food is OK. Covid measures are strict this home had a terrible experience with it in 2020, according to reports I have seen. Negatives: staffing level. Just not enough. My mother needed help to be able to get from bed to toilet, for example, and needed to summon that help by pressing a buzzer. It took ages. One more than one occasion it was well over half an hour, before anyone responded. On several occasions when I got a call to her, my mother was in tears about it. My telephone calls to the home were only actually answered about 20% of the time, otherwise just ringing. And the situation at weekends was worse. It seemed to me that staffing level was just about hovering on the edge of acceptable patient safety.
Yesterday I was at the Heathers Christmas Party. It was a wonderful event and the effort which had been put in was amazing. My mom is unable to leave her room so staff and their children went to see her. In my opinion this home thrives on its care and it’s family involvement. As well as caring for my mom, I am supported too.
This place is the absolute pits! I’m reporting particularly regarding the most unfortunate residents/patients who have the ultimate misfortune of residing upstairs here. All residents literally ‘live’ in this upstairs, bare room. They’re NEVER taken outside. Even during all the glorious sunshine last year, NO residents from upstairs or downstairs where EVER taken to get fresh air in the patio area outside. I know because I was there EVERY DAY. There is NO stimulation day or night. Everyone is just expected to sit in a filthy, food-encrusted chair ALL day and sometimes ALL night. They can’t be bothered to help some to bedThose who are bed-ridden are left and can be heard crying for help continually. It’s so distressing because NOBODY IS THERE! Tea time is disgusting. This involves staff mostly agency staff who don’t know the residents, walking around with unwashed hands handing out sandwiches to residents, when they can be bothered to tear themselves away from sitting chatting,. No plates. No serviettes, nothing. Absolutely appalling. I witnessed a female resident as were most, constantly crying to be taken to the toilet, only to be whispered to by the resident nurse to ‘wee herself as she had a pad on’ Disgusting and degrading! Oh there’s a wonderful notice board that displays daily activities. However, these are total fabrication. THEY DON’T TAKE PLACE! I can absolutely vouch for this because I was there EVERY, SINGLE DAY! Nobody from either the ground floor or the Hell Hole upstairs ever had fresh air in that glorious weather last year. Please, please do NOT place your loved ones here. It’s totally neglectful.
What a lovely care home this is spotless every resident has a lovely bed room and can go back to there room any time of day if they want a lie down not left to slump over in a chair the carer's are all trained for dementia and have qualified nurses lovely dinning room and separate living rooms we could see the residents were well cared for and happy just wishing mom had more time here all the staff were so careing and compassionate thank you every one at the heathers.
