The main manor is currently getting repaired. This place is gorgeous already so it can only get better with more maintenance. The walk around the lake is so pretty in summer and spring. Numerous rubbish bins for any waste people have. Many pier points that i often see people fish from. Great place for a picnic!
Lovely walk around the Loch not too difficult and good paths for those who do not have walking boots - there are also plenty of walks off piste if you want to push yourself a little and the views are stunning - we stayed in Dairy Cottage for the weekend and loved it - we will definitely visit again.
This estate is open to the public for free as long as there's not any events on. The path around the loch is nice and flat and suitable for wheelchairs etc. Great place to walk dogs as well. However there is algae in the water that can be dangerous for dogs, so best to keep your dog on a lead away from the algae. There are also benches at various points around the loch path.
A lovely walk with the dogs around the grounds of the Haining House Country Estate, Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. Dog friendly with water stations around the grounds. Please be respectful dog owners and remember to take poo bags with you. Their are ducks on the lake so if your dogs a chaser please ensure they are on a lead.
I understand a local charity is doing up the house overlooking the Loch. That would be fabulous as a beautiful location. Unfortunately the weather was foul when we visited otherwise would have been a wonderful day out.
Fabulous free estate to walk around, straight from the carpark in the centre of Selkirk. The 'old Ginger' Dandie Dinmont statue in the old kennels courtyard is lovely, as is the history of these fabulous terriers in the discovery center. The estate will be even more fabulous as they upgrade the house. The marquee is a great venue for events
Lovely place to visit, house looks amazing and the walk round the loch is recommended. Follow directions for parking since maps will try and take you up a private road.
Beautiful big house being restored with other various buildings including an art gallery. Stunning walk with good paths and seating. The bears cage was interesting as well as the haunted cottage. There will be a cafe here, once finished. Beautiful setting! We went back for a walk while the trees are bare in cold weather and it was still extremely beautiful.
One of my favourite places in the Borders. Go here and escape from the chaos. Lovely short walk around the loch. Everyone is so friendly as well with a Hi and Hello. New benches going up so you can relax and take in the tranquility.
