Both curries were basically water. There was no thickness to the sauce. The poppadoms were inedible as they seemed to be cooked together and they were stuck together and uncooked in the middle. Serving uncooked food is not ok!
Savoury, delicious, even more than it was described in the menu. Prompt service. The ingredients are soothing and exciting in the same time, the place is clean and modern with a welcoming waiting area. Massively recommended for all culinar adventurers
Wont be going back, was told food would be ready at 7.15 so i arrived to collect and it didn't appear until 7.45 fine but i dont want to wait in a takeaway for 30mins on my Saturday evening which i couldn't understand as the phone didnt ring at all whilst I was in there so they couldn't have been that busy. I live 100m from the take away and when I got home the food was luke warm and the naan bread was unedible. Sorry the village but you need to up your game a lot
Ordered butter chicken and another curry, sweet as hell, not even close to what it would taste in India, I understand that the spiciness level won’t be the same here, but calling these dishes Indian is a joke and no attempt is made to make them even 25% authentic, very disappointing experience
Ordered several dishes via Just Eat. Delivery was nearly an hour late maybe not the restaurant's fault. Some of the food was ok but other dishes disappointingly bland. Also. the containers were only partly filled. Some of the chicken pieces had a weird texture. The Naans were fine. We didn't complain because the meal had been bought for us by a friend. As regular curry eaters we would not buy from here again as it compares badly to other restaurants in our area.
Ordered a meal for 2 and after an hour I thought I’d messed up the on line order so called the restaurant to check.. he said my order was there and was just leaving.. another hour later it turned up and was all cold! We’ve used the village for years but this experience and the same on a previous via a food app means I will not be returning, especially as I tried to contact them and complain directly but got no response..
Ordered food from here. The food was rather fancy as it does not cater to the Indian taste at all. Paneer Saag was weirdly dessert-like sweet which it shouldn't be, as it's supposedly a curry and not cooked well. The Aloo Paratha didn't seem to have any aloo potato, the Tiger Prawn Malabar again was sweet rather than spicy, and it's curry was distasteful. The only palpable dish was the Tarka Daal. Overall, quite oily, and the taste was not good.
First time trying here and I must saying I’m rather disappointed .. food had a very weird bland taste korma just didn’t taste like a korma best thing out of the whole meal was the Coca Cola won’t order from here again
Had a craving for Alloo Paratha and ordered 4 of them.. To be surprise it was the worst paratha I ever had from any restaurant. Uncooked Dough filled with loads of turmeric and red chilli powder and a little bit of potato. V disappointed!!! Sad to see these novice recipes are sold under an Indian name.
Have been regular customers for years. Consistently excellent. Only once in 5 years have we been unhappy with service or food. Long delay in order was more down to the success of the restaurant extremely busy night with at least 15 covers waiting when I arrived to collect. Delay was acknowledged and credit given readily. Have experienced curries all over the UK and in Pakistan. After eating at The Village I am constantly disappointed when we eat elsewhere. Have introduced friends who have all enthusiastically agreed. Great food, great flavours, great range of dishes, well sourced ingredients, reasonably priced. Love it.
