This is a lovely environment. The approach through the grounds to the hotel is lovely and the whole setting is quite romantic. However the afternoon tea we experienced did not in my view live up to expectations. The food which we were given was prepared earlier in the day as the chef appears to have the afternoon off. This resulted in some of the sandwiches being a bit tired, aka stale. Compared to our previous visit a year ago the quantity of food was somewhat reduced so we felt we would like to order some extras. Unfortunately due there being no catering staff on the premises we were unable to do this. The manager on duty was perfectly charming and did his best to explain the situation, giving us a second pot of tea at no extra charge to alleviate the problem. Therefore I was disappointed overall and feel justified in giving 3 stars.

Lovely afternoon tea on a rainy day. Nice selection of sandwiches and cakes. Very friendly welcome. Would have been a five but the scones were a bit dry, all the other cakes were great. Hours later and still feeling full.

I love The Grove. Have visited several times and can't wait to return. Great addition of the Massage Hut, I was floating on air! Thanks to all the excellent staff making us feel so welcome.

My wife and I had a 3 course dinner using a red letter day voucher. The staff were friendly and atentive and The Grove was a very nice place. Our food was overall pretty good, meat cooked very well and all courses very tasty but our starters and mains were not terribly hot and being as there were only about 8 people dining at that time this surprised me.

Afternoon tea was very pleasant. Comfortable surroundings, tasty food, helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Pre-booking is essential and different dietary needs and preferences are well catered for.
