Set in glorious Welsh countryside, a beautiful and relaxing place to be. Our room was spacious with a terrace overlooking pasture to the hill beyond. We visited on an extremely windy and rainy day so we weren't able to take advantage of the garden furniture on our private spot but I would imagine it to be a great place to sit and chill; read a book and take a drink, alcoholic or otherwise. The bed was king-size and very comfortable. Shower had a plentiful supply of hot water. Breakfast was good. The staff friendly. We had passed the Groes many times but only ever called in once for lunch years ago but we enjoyed our stay so much we intend to return on a sunnier day with less wind. Its well worth a try.
Friendly staff directed us to our very spacious room. Lovely huge comfortable bed and a beautiful view over the countryside. The decor is dated and the water in the bathroom was only ever lukewarm. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
Fantastic find. A very warm welcome waited. Dogs more than welcome. Treats for them to. Food was lovely &menu well executed. Would recommend and will definitely be back. Ps try the dragon fire ale. Specially brewed it's Welsh beer At it's best. One small criticism there's a long wait for food although it didn't bother us. But please don't expect to rush....
Stopped here yesterday late afternoon for some food after a friends recommendation. Sat out the back in the really nice garden with our dog. The staff were lovely and our food was delicious. Would definitely come back here if we were in the area again.
Warm and welcoming, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely meal from a good menu selection. We arrived at 5pm and the restaurant was very quiet but was filling up as we left a couple of hours later. Would definitely return again.
Awesome place not too far from the city. Great food, room and services. The room is slightly slant. The food here is great, ordered cauliflower steak and mussel with cream. The carpark is a little hard to enter due to its small size and turn. Would visit again.
Friendly staff and a nice warm pub on a rainy day. They have a good menu, good portions and the prices are right for the portions and quality. I enjoyed a steak pie and mash - very nice! Will be back again soon...
Visited with a wonderful friend, who has been an absolute star in providing some great practical support during this house moving period, and for whom I hoped to provide an exceptional 'thank you' luncheon. The service was attentive and courteous, the food was beautifully cooked and a visual delight, which was immenseley satisfying to eat, drinks were delightful too. We sat chatting and enjoying our meal for quite a while, leaving feeling totally indulged and pampered. I was delighted that the Groes Inn lived up to its excellent reputation in enabling me to cherish my lovely friend. Thank you.
This hotel is a gem ,we have just returned from a three night stay with our 2 small dogs all the staff were absolutely brilliant nothing to much trouble ,the food and service was excellent. We had a mountain view room on the first floor the room was spotless with a extra large king sized bed compleat with a small balcony. This hotel justly deserves its 5 star rating we can't thank the staff enough for making our stay a great one ,we will certainly return.
This is such a fantastic place. Accommodation, food and service are amazing. Nothing is too much. Rachel, Dave and Jane to name a few could not have been more helpful. Will and the other chefs produced fantastic food every night and morning. Breakfast cooked fresh to order. Very central for day trips to any part of North Wales. Perfect setting with mountain views.
