When out cycling I usually look for quaint cafes to stop for a coffee and a cake, but on this occasion, I met my family and sat with an amazing view of the Abbey while we enjoyed some of the most amazing cakes I've had in a while along with a very nice coffee. I had a honeycomb brownie and took a salted caramel flapjack with me for my ride, which was one of the best flapjacks I've ever had!
Unfortunately last Sunday, the meal was not of usual standard. Could not cut the meat, quite fatty, the Cauliflower cheese was rock hard. When mentioned to Staff, they used a different knife to cut food. Absolutely packed, they had to close service. Lucy and staff were really helpful, as always. We are grateful for their help. DO not like the new system. If you have soup or pasty with other guest a roast, then one meal ends up cold! Same with getting a drink with main meal. When I mentioned this to the Supervisor on the till, she quite rudely told me, that everybody else liked the new system. Just thought i should mention, obviously she was not interested! Sure system will be tweaked before more visitors arrive in summer. We visit regularly. Abbey is beautiful, in wonderful grounds. Vegetarian options: Always options for dietary needs, even Gluten free. Kid-friendliness: Children running around, no problem. Parking: Need to arrive early for disabled parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible. Disabled toilets on entrance and in restaurant. Very clean. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free food available. Staff very accommodating. Ring restaurant to discuss dietary needs.
Nice setting to eat lunch, it’s not quite a restaurant and a bit more like a cafeteria where you go up, choose your food from what’s there and pay for what you have taken. More choice would have been nice but overall good experience.
I work in around the local area and use the Grange Restaurant daily as my Coffee and brunch stop. It's always immaculate. The staff are so polite and friendly . I've now been nearly every day for 5 months! They even take the time to chat ! Food is lovely and nothing seems to much trouble. Would recommend for a lovely place to spend a bit of time and have good food Parking: Plenty of parking
Absolutely fantastic. Service was impeccable, quality of food was perfect, atmosphere was friendly and warming. Uttermost credit to Martin and Charlotte for being kind and helpful throughout my visit.
Very nice cafe. Very open and light. Bit cold when we first arrived but warmed up. Only had tea but was ok. Cakes etc looked really nice.Service: 4/5
Meet friends for coffee about once every 6 wks ,it's hard to get a table for 6 away from the exit so there's always a draught, the staff are helpful and friendly .Food: 4/5
A lovely place to have lunch on a cold sunny day. A good selection of cakes and hot drinks. Unfortunately only sausage rolls and pasties available warm. Both were good but would have liked a more substantial meal. Free parking and good clean toilets. Friendly staff. A fantastic setting and enjoyed our walk around the Abbey grounds afterwards.
Lovely site, and history. £5.15 for a pasty is a bit steep but it's helping maintain building I guess!Food: 5/5
Lovely cakes, we were also served by a lovely young man, I think his name was Corey? Beautiful smile and he made our days much better!
