My wife, daughter and I came for 6 meals over our stay at the adjacent Premier Inn. Our food was well cooked on each visit, and the waiting times were quite short even when things were very busy. The front of house staff who looked after us - Lisa, Jamie, Dalton & Keeley - were excellent. Their warmth and helpfulness is what made our visits to the restaurant consistently outstanding. A big, well deserved thanks to you all from the Simpsons!
Somewhat underwhelming. Bang for buck this just doesn't hit the mark. The food was ok, although the chicken was tough and small considering the cost. They seem to want to make up for lesser quality dishes by providing bottomless chips, this doesn't cut it. Side salad were also small, I can accept a small side salad but when that also contains wilted brown lettuce I'm afraid it's less acceptable, I struggle how a chef would let this go out. That said the flavours of the smothered chicken were great. The dish that seemed better was the fish and chips, it seemed a reasonable size with the only criticism being mushy peas that had been kept warm too long and had dried out somewhat. My daughters dish seemed a reasonable size and she enjoyed the flavours, although she mentioned some pasta was hard and uncooked, and it wasn't served with any parmesan cheese... When we asked for some we were served a tiny bowl of some mild cheese and charged 50p for it, that's something else I find mildly offensive as I believe a pasta dish should be served and you should be asked about additional cheese and ground black pepper. The layout of the restaurant is ok, nothing amazing but ok. Service was good and all but one member of staff were lovely and really helpful, a credit to the establishment. The big question, would I go again. Simply, no. The portions are too small and chips don't compensate for that. Prices are too high for the balance of portion size and the quality of the food served.
Excellent breakfast!! We had the unlimited cooked breakfast, but I was delighted to see the absence of unrelenting gorging that we have witnessed at other establishments!! The breakfast was ample enough, with options of cereals, toast, pastries, juices, tea, and coffee to boot, so no need to leave here hungry!! Good food, good value, very pleasant staff - what's not to like??
Good service, waitress smiled and chatty. I had a chicken salad, which was, compared to others I've eaten recently, not worth the money. The chicken was lovely, which made it acceptable but I don't think I would order it again.
We as a family eat here most weeks and normally get treated amazingly by Emily and Lizzie, however on this occasion, not so, our bill most weeks is around £70-£80 which we don’t ever quibble about, this evenings debacle was different. The portions sizes have been dramatically reduced with the prices either staying the same or increasing, we were basically told to like or lump it, six chips on my meal is a disgrace, also being called “sweet” constantly by the team leader was rather cringe too. This restaurant is all about steak, however no fillet steak, no check back on our table was done, first world problems I guess, think it’s time to go somewhere else. Sad times, as stated previously Emily and Lizzie treat us like royalty, and always go above and beyond to make conversation with the children and make our evening evening more enjoyable , if your looking for team leaders and managers promote within !!
This was nice, well cooked had skinny fries over chips they had no mushy peas so had to make do with fresh peas but all
The property looks dated and neglected from the outside. Litter bins overflowing and cigarette butt's everywhere, not nice. Has seen better days!Food: 2/5
Great restaurant atmosphere and layout. Food was really tasty. Double burger & chunky chips, Rump steak burger cooked to perfection. Drinks were good quality and the cocktails top notch. Had a great evening. ThanksFood: 5/5
Went for breakfast for 7 was taken to our seats and told someone would be with us to take our order which surprised us considering we know it's help yourself. We got our toast etc and then gave our order. When our order came out the portion size was what a child would be served. We asked why it was table service and was told that it was too early for help yourself. We finished our food and asked as it was unlimited could we get some more only to be told the buffet will be open in 15 mins I'm not taking any more orders, this is not what we expect or need from The Beefeater staff. Also the toilets were disgusting and hadn't been cleaned and the ashtrays hadn't been emptied. Never had a problem before.
Excellent value for money. Good atmosphere, nice decor. Plenty free parking. Service was brilliant, very friendly and attentive Service. Will definitely dine there again.Food: 5/5
