Story

The George is a 15th century coaching hotel based in the pretty town of Castle Cary. It is nestled in the beautiful undulating hills of south Somerset. The historic market town of Castle Cary still remains a local and national attraction.

The hotel is owned and managed by Daniel Patrick along with family and staff. Our aim is to provide our guests with a warm and friendly welcome and an enjoyable stay whether its for business or pleasure.

The hotel has 17 en-suite bedrooms, two main bar areas and Knights Restaurant.

Awesome place, spent 3 days here during a nearby wedding. Accomodation is everything you need and nothing you don't (it's a 500year old Inn - if you want a characterless chain go to Premier Inn) the breakfast had the perfect ratio of bacon/sausage/egg/mushrooms every morning (but you have to ask for beans!! They don't eat beans with a fried breakfast down there, what is that about!?) and served by a very rare specimen that is a happy scotsman. The bar is also spot on, massive crackling fire, cider, windows, men with hats - what more could you want? Book it, chill and smile.

Visiting Somerset for a family wedding and stayed for 4 nights.Staff very welcoming . Lovely quaint inn full of character . Acommodation very competively priced at £50 a night . Room very comfy and although it was above the bar area I didn't hear any noise. Chef excellent the food delicious . An absolute gem of a place decor , well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed !

Lovely old pub that's been modernised quite nicely. Only downside for me was the huge TV on the wall with football playing. Not at all in keeping and quite intrusive.

Went there for lunch with family while on a day visit from London and I have to say had the best sandwich ever. The bread was delicious with loads of filling and chips were lovely too. Friendly service. Well worth the 3 hr drive just for the lunch.
