Got in at about 10pm and enjoyed a takeaway and a drink in the bar with very accommodating staff. There was a wedding on, with loud music until midnight. The floor of our room on the top floor was shaking with the music for quite a while until it was turned down at about 11:30, which I could imagine would make it hard to sleep especially if you had children.nAlso the floor of our room was at quite a steep angle so it felt like you were walking up hill to move around which was a little strange. I would imagine if you are a little unsteady on your feet it could cause some concern.nThat being said the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a very nice shower. Also the breakfast was good value and filling!nIf there wasn’t the loud music of the wedding until midnight would have scored higher.
Found the room to be clean but furniture very dated nothing like picture of a club class room on line?? .nVery large bed and comfy.nShower I found was good but it was a fixed over head shower head so the wife struggled wanted to shower but did not want to wash her hair and this is difficult with the over head shower.nBreakfast was verygood
Fabulous room, fresh decor, spacious, secure parking and excellent reception staff.nBreakfast was disappointing and not reflective of the standard of the hotel accommodation.
We arrived at the George hotel to realise that we had booked the wrong date but Petra at reception couldn't have been more helpful and kind and managed to have our booking amended. This hotel has a very comfy and homely feel to it as well being very well situated in Penrith and we'd definitely stay again!
We are currently staying at the George Hotel on their Christmas Break. We were originally staying for a second year at their other hotel Stone Manor in Kendal but a week before our break, the hotel contacted us to tell us the Christmas Break was cancelled and we were offered to relocate to the George Hotel. We were given a great room Feature Room which has been refurbished to high standards with a modern look and feel. You only know you are in an old 300 year hotel by the slopping door and floor, which adds to the character of the hotel feel. Downstairs the layout was good, with space to find relaxing seating. The food was excellent and of high standard. The staff were very friendly and would address me by my name, which I felt was a nice touch, as I was treated personally and not just a room number as in most hotels. The whole Christmas experience has been one to remember and tell everyone about to try next year. As for all the negative comments on the website, I should ignore, you won’t go far wrong with staying at this Hotel. Thank-you to all the team at the Hotel George for welcoming us at short notice and making a Christmas special and memorable.
