Beautiful old pub with lovely decor and beams. Staff really kind and cheerful, and the food was amazing! It's a little bit dearer than average but you can tell the quality of food is good. I got the chicken supreme, chestnut stuffing, dauphinoise potatoes, carrots and mushroom veloute, and my mum got the "chippy tea", it was delish
The pub is under new management but as we had dined here before and friends had eaten here since it reopened thought we would choose it for our Xmas get-together. Unfortunately we had to send 5 of the starterssoup back as they were cold and then waited around 15 minutes before they brought them back out. Not a major problem, the soup was very tasty. But we then had the same issue with the desert but this time it was over 20 minutes before we got served again . It wasn't very busy so not sure why . The serving staff were very apologetic. Overall the food was very good just a shame that after the starters were sent out cold they didn't up there game and double check what they were sending out. We would go back as hopefully it was just a one off .
Lovely place, staff are an absolute credit. Food was nice enough. Dog friendly, although the cost of a pint 5.90 for a neck oil nearly made me swallow my tongue… and charged me £1.50 for a pint of lime and soda… which is really scandalous to be honest… so they have lost a star for me. Still, will be back though!
I'm never one for writing reviews, but thought something constructive may be helpful. We're local and have been for 40 years. I've always supported local businesses. We've had Sunday dinner a couple of times now and the food is excellent. However, the portions of meat are tiny It literally is embarrassing for the servers to put the plates in front of you. We were also charged £3 for an extra single portion of gravy. Whats that about ?. Three of us had Sunday dinner and a bottle of Sauv Blanc and the bill was £100... For tea on Sunday .... It's simply too much, and the meat portions are too small. Also there are no children's portions. It's Sunday dinner, the life blood of the English gentry and working classes, surely its not difficult to have a children's portion. We've also dined at many other times during the week and the food and service have always been excellent.... Just thought a bit of feedback might be useful as I'd love to see the place packed every Sunday as well as other times.... Don't shoot the messenger :-
Newly opened providing lovely food with great friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere. Live music on most Friday and Saturday nights. Real ales available to chose from if you like that sort of thing. The rear patio seating area is great for catching the sunset, too!Food: 5/5
The food and service here are second to none, highly recommended. Been going here for years and it never disappoints, always feels like a treat and is just a great place to eat and drink. The rump steak is top notch and the farm made ice creams are hard to resist. Miss out at your peril
First time visiting the Après Tipi this evening for a festive “get together” with friends. It’s a lovely idea but, we arrived at 18:35 to be told the kitchen was closed at 18:30. Totally understand you wouldn’t open a kitchen back up but there is nothing on the menu about the kitchen closing. To then see that another table was served food at 18:55. We also attempted to order a hot chocolate, which was recommended by a friend, to be told they don’t do hot chocolate? Had a mulled wine, which was lovely but just felt a little disappointed with the overall experience.
Nice decor but the place was freezing. Understand no fires in use but central heating, if any should have been put on hours before opening. Failing that some space heaters would have done. All customers kept their coats on. Food was lukewarm. Needs to improve quickly.
Very disappointed with our meal last night 14/1/23, did make feelings known to a very young waitress and expected the chef to respond but no just ignored. Think the chef is very ambitious with his menu which does not reflect on the seemingly good food that he / she ruins with inferior additions. Won't be going back.
Great place for a fantastic meal , excellent service by friendly staff ,food amazing ,well worth a visit of your in the area you won't be disappointed.Food: 5/5
