The Gathering Place Bistro is a restaurant in Braemar, in the Highlands of Scotland. It specializes in grill-style food with steaks and a Scottish slant.
The Gathering Place Bistro started life in 2002 with it's original owners Caroline and Alex Hadley-Smith. They had a very successful time here until Caroline suffered a leg injury which put her out of action for a considerable length of time. Caroline and Alex sold the Bistro to Ian and Sandie Geddies in around 2007 and they successfully ran it until they decided to retire at the end of 2014 and sold the whole premises to Braemar Mountain Sports.
Ironically that business was a former employer of Caroline!.
Braemar Mountain Sports bought the premises with a vision of creating some glamorous camping pods (Glamping!) in the grounds with some holiday accommodation in the upper floors of Auld Bank House.
This left the Bistro unoccupied and with that business not falling into the Braemar Mountain Sports model, Debbie and Tony are delighted to have acquired the Lease to the premises to provide this much needed restaurant facility in the Village of Braemar.
Debbie and Tony are delighted to have employed Ken, from Ballater, as their Head Chef and he has proved to be able to provide fantastic food. Ken has many years experience and is able to adapt most dishes for any dietary requirement.
