Odd experience with this business. Contacted them to arrange collection of a 5 year old sofa - smoke free, pet free home. Fire labels in tact. Told them it had 3 marks and sun fading and had been refused by British Heart Foundation but they said they had a lower threshold for accepting furniture. They asked that we reassembled the sofa and arranged collection. The collection drivers were really nice and courteous so stars given for them, but they wouldn't collect the sofa as said it was too marked. It was still a good sofa with a few aesthetic wear and tear marks so I struggle to believe that it couldn't be re-homed to a family or someone in need. We were only getting rid of it to free up space, nothing a blanket or throw couldn't sort. Felt like they were only interested in near-new furniture to sell on and wasted our time which is a shame as we'd really liked to have helped someone in need set up home.
Wouldn’t collect my 3 seater Parker Knoll sofa because it has slight sun discolouration on the arms..The woman on the phone said ‘Well, our families are quite picky..’ WHAT HOMELESS FAMILY would say ‘Oh no thanks, me and my kids can’t possibly sit down on that sofa because the arms are slightly lighter colour‘ THIS IS WHY OUR SOCIETY IS BROKEN. I even said on the phone that I had been turned down by 10 different charities and they were my only hope and warned them about the slight sun fading. I’m not exaggerating either. The arms are just slightly less red than the rest of the sofa. I was planning on donating to the charity once it had been collected as a thank you. BALLS to that idea if your ‘homeless’ families turn theirs noses up at high value items. What a ridiculous world we live in. Took a day off work for nothing
The Furniture Project, turned up today and collected our 3 seater and 2 seater sofa, the two gentlemen that came to collect were very polite, friendly, and quick. The lady Kim I think sorry if I wrong whom answered the phone was great and very helpful., Was given multiple options of days and for collection, to suit us, she was able to book us straight in for collection, we was given a 4 hour slot. We got a phone call from the gentlemen to let me know when they was near by so we could be ready. Will definitely give the furniture project a call in the future when we have other items to pass on. Many thanks
Just had them round to pick up 2 sofas They tapped the springs and said they're on the way out...we were still using them and only getting rid because we've ordered some new ones as were renovating the whole downstairs. I thought that a charity would be glad of donations?? They even said they've got to be careful as they go to families and kids might jump up and down on them .....at this I was speechless. More like they turned up in a smallish van and hadn't got room ....This was after myself and the wife had struggled to get them outside to save the pick up team. How ungrateful!!! 1 star because i couldn't give non
Great value for all the pieces of furniture. Nice people and free delivery for neighborhood. I will definitely buy again. Keep up with the good stuff, guys.
No doubt the people that run this "Project" are quite well off & take a decent wage. My understanding was that they took donated furniture & gave it to people that needed it & accepted donations to keep them running but it appears they are basically a used furniture business that will only take in donations of near new furniture & sell them on for a good profit. The furniture I was donating was a 2 & 3 seater beige leather settee, perfectly usable but had a few scratches & needed a clean & 17 years old, still had fire labels etc. After waiting in all day & getting rescheduled for a later time, they finally arrived to tell me they could not take the sofas as they were used & had scratches on. I am now stuck with the sofas in my garden & need to spend another day trying to get someone else to collect. Won't use again or recommend. Easier to sell on Facebook marketplace etc & get some money for it rather than give away to these guys.
Got a Table and chairs from here today and was very happy with my purchase 5+++++
Brilliant staff, Great furniture at a good price ,
I booked in several items to be collected and recycled. However when the collectors arrived they did not want second hand furniture that had small marks on it. They refused to take very good quality furniture as they had a telling off from their boss about taking back furniture with marks on it. They did not have any details of the items I had checked in and left without any of the items. If the furniture project wants brand new furniture to give away then they need to make that clear. Totally disgusted that very good furniture was then handed to someone with a log burner. Kim needs to read these reviews and train her team in recognising small imperfections in items that could be easily made perfect.
Great idea for the community however I did not appreciate the middle aged woman Karen following me round the building. Immediately telling me I must wear a mask and watching every move I made. Hence the reason I didn't make a purchase. She was not helpful in the slightest and made me feel uncomfortable as if she was suspicious of me. I do not appreciate this and will not shop here ever again.
