Went with a friend for Sunday lunch - she likes pork and I like beef so this was perfect for us. Excellent meal, superb service and all very friendly. We were not hurried - even though they were busy - just able to enjoy our meal at a nice relaxed pace.
Had a lovely break here staying in their superior room. Room was spacious and comfortable. The huge bath certainly added some luxury. The food was 5 star, particularly the breakfast. The staff were all very helpful and attentive, particularly Giavanni. Centrally located with the cathedral and Abbey grounds just across the road. Perfect break, will come again. x
A great place for lunch after a stroll around Bury St Edmunds. After walking past many times this was our first visit and we'll definitely be going back. Standard ' pub grub ' menu which was fine with us. Service and food were very good and the pub itself is nice inside. No complaints at all.Service: 5/5
Splendid food, great service. We just turned up 10 of us we were seated promptly and orders taken. I think we all had a different meal, the chef miraculously provided all at once, hot and well presented. Great menu !
Stayed for a couple of nights in room 1. The rooms are in an annexe attached to the pub. Very warm which was welcome as the weather was snowy and cold! Lovely decor with double height ceiling. Ensuite had underfloor heating and a bath. The landlord was lovely, the breakfast huge, the pub food was delicious too. Easy walk to shops and sights too!
Stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Room was delightful, clean, relaxing and warm. Food at the Fox Inn was all really good. Service was first class. All the staff were friendly and could not fault. I had the most delightful stay, made my Christmas. Would definitely stay again.
Went there for my husbands birthday meal. We were really looking forward to it as previous meals we had there were great but sadly we were disappointed today. I ordered an aperol spritz but it had so much soda water in it you couldn’t taste the alcohol however at my request they did give me an alternative drink. My garden salad was missing two ingredients again, I was offered a replacement meal but my husband was halfway through his course so I elected to just wait for the missing ingredients to be brought to me. A large chunk of my husbands steak was fat and inedible. We ordered dessert but had to wait a long time and eventually asked for it. When it was served to us it came with an explanation that they were a chef short. What saved the meal was the desserts which were delicious. Overall a very disappointing experience.
Popped in here when we visited St B's, as we came out of the grounds it was in front of us and we decided to take a chance. Food was great and staff attentive & friendly. Also great with our dogs.Service: 5/5
