Today, at just after noon on a Sunday, we stopped at The Fox Hole hoping they could fit us in. Fortunately they had a table. The service was excellent. Everyone was welcoming & friendly. Now the food....2 x Roast rump of beef & all the trimmings DELICIOUS! And they had French mustard, a  rarity as it's usually only English or Dijon. Unfortunately there was no room for a pudding which was a shame once I'd seen what the table next to us had ordered - next time a smaller main & a pudding for me. We will be back!

We came to eat at this wonderful pub during our getaway at a local Airbnb. We had the best pub food we've EVER had - totally surprised at the quality and all for such a reasonable price. We had the seafood sharing platter to start and the chateaubriand for our main and WOW! Pictures don't do it justice. Highly recommend this wonderful pub.

Very clean, absolutely gorgeous fresh food, Found this place at random, when arriving without a booking we were welcomed with friendly customer service and given a table. The food was at a good value with plenty of meat to go around. After eating at the foxhole just 2 minutes over the road was a pleasant walk to see a roman settlement.

Beautiful food, great atmosphere and lovely setting. Visited with friends and we had a great night, well recommended

Three of us went for lunch on Friday. The pub was attractive and the waiting staff were friendly and attentive.  We had a main course at £16  and a dessert at £6.50.  I had fish of the day, Sea Bream. The fillet was pan fried and served with roasted new potatoes, green veg and veloute sauce. It was beautifully cooked and delicious.  The fish cakes came with a spicy tomato sauce and fried, again nicely cooked and with plenty of fish.  Our friend had the braised steak with horseradish mash and roasted root vegetables. It looked very tender and tasty.  For dessert we had the chocolate brownie and the sticky toffee pudding, both with vanilla ice cream and decorated with berries.  We enjoyed our meal and are looking forward to going back.

Rang to book a table for evening meal Friday 28th October. We were a party of 9 with a dog. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and the lady I spoke to Meghan? went out of her way to accommodate us. The biggest table seats 6 so she worked out 2 tables together with space for us all. On the night the staff were lovely, the food was delicious and everyone enjoyed the meal. Only thing I would suggest is a wider choice for vegetarian /vegan as this was limited. Quite pricey but understand why as there's few places near by for eating out.

Enjoyed a delicious meal at the Fox Hole recently. Beautifully presented & moreish Hake main. Refreshing, in our local area, a restaurant with attentive staff & great quality ingredients - all including drinks very sensibly priced! We will be booking a table again soon!

Having eaten here a number of times now, I can confidently say that the food here is.excellent. Well presented and delicious food served in comfortable and elegant surroundings; I always make sure to stop off here on my way through the north-east.

Great food with exceptional staff. Would recommend to anyone
