A wonderful pub well known to sailors but perhaps a little tucked away for the casual land lubber. Fabulously located on the bank of the river Medina with plenty of seating inside and out. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food is fantastic and the staff are wonderful! We visited in mid January and it was quiet, but I understand it's very wise to book your table at more sociable times of the year.. Evidently there is soon to be a big refurbishment to add more all fresco places, something to look forward to! Don't miss this one, it's a gem..
Cycled from Ryde and enjoyed a lunch pit stop at the Folly Inn, overlooking the Medina River. Lovely pub in a peaceful and sunny spot. The sharing platter and pints of beers were just what we needed to continue our bike ride.
We had a wonderful meal on Friday 25/11/22 at the Folly Inn. It was a beautiful day and we went for broke on the steaks and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The chef definitely knows how to cook a medium/rare steak to perfection. This, coupled with the super friendly and helpful staff, made it a very memorable outing. We would highly recommend the Folly Inn. The photo was taken from our table - what a view!
We visited on a very hot day, mid week in August. We didn't have a reservation and despite being quite busy they found us a table. Too hot to eat outside but inside was lovely and with a view too. Service was a little slow but it was done with a smile and was all very pleasant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. This was our 2nd time here and we will definitely be back again, maybe when it's a bit cooler to enjoy the outside.
Nice view and location close to the ferry port, so we stopped for food before our ferry back home. Gluten free menu but no dairy free options - the chef was happy to accommodate me and made me something which was nice of them. Friendly staff all around, food itself was nothing special, but ok :
A really fabulous find. We got an earlier ferry than expected leaving us with no where to stay overnight as our camp site wasn't expecting us. We found Folly Inn on Park for Night. Rang ahead staff were wonderful. Had a fantastic meal with a few tipples, a lovely evening. Parked at the top of the carpark and awoke to this wonderful site. What a welcome to the Isle of Wight.
Judging by the varied reviews here, I believe some people are arriving very hungry and a little low on blood sugar! This is a great pub, warm atmosphere and kind staff in the middle of - frankly - nowhere. So i was impressed to see the huge menu for kids and big kids. They have about 50 different guns and a variety of tonics too if that's your bag. You can sail here or drive or swim or walk I suppose? which makes this great place a very cool destination. Did you know? Most of Isle of Wights GDP is produced just upriver at the wind turbine factory . We saw one go past a single blade on a 50m barge. Incredible sight. And you can go to Victoria and Albert's church about 20 mins walk up the hill to really build your appetite. Thanks for being there Folly Inn.
Very nice, good meals and nice beers. Ceasar salad with sea bass and cod n chips very tasty good portions not overloaded with cheap ingredients chips a good lunch.
As ever a pleasure to drop in for lunch. Good menu and beers on tap. Nice IPAs. Friendly service. Never tire of the views across the water.
Good location. Booking advised. Had BBQ which was tasty but not the main meal we were expecting to order.
