One of the best pubs in Scotland. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is really awesome, and the pub itself is cozy and warm. I was lucky enough to be there one day they had live music! My advice is to book in advance, otherwise you might not get in.
Considering how much it costs to stay at the hotel, the Flying Stag is very reasonably priced. Our meals were very tasty. It was a Tuesday night and very busy but with that in mind, the staff were all very friendly and helpful without seeming rushed.
What am amazing place! The staff are beyond helpful and kind. I thought it might be a little intimidating being so posh..... but no! It's very welcoming. I had the haggis, neeps and tatties, delicious and my partner had the steak, also delicious Such a stunning hotel.
Just wow! the food , the deco and the vibe are just cosy! Il keep it short and simple. Food…simply great ! A little on the expensive £7 soup starter and around £15 main at the time of writing this review but you do get for what you pay in term of quality, what makes this place alittle more special are they use local produce so everything is super fresh and tasty. I do recommend and try the haddock Scotch egg, was the start of the show but saying that I wouldn’t give the soup a kiss either! Highly recommended to visit on your way to glenshee ski resort or on the way up or down. Brownie point - this is also a dog friendly restaurant
We had a big booking for 15 people at this place, reservation was made 3 months ago. When we came to the restaurant - the staff was not prepared, no table organized. There they told that they can’t give us one table and we need to have two tables- which was quite disappointing that they didn’t notify us about it in advance. Staff was really rude and was not nice at all. We had one child with us. So after we sit they took the order from one table they child was on another table and left. When they finally came to us they told that they will put our order for food only in 10 min, because there are only 3 people at the kitchen and they actually can’t cook at the same time. Nobody told us in advance about it. And they actually told us that it was a favor to give us a table. I think this kind of rudeness I never met in my life at the restaurant. One table received the food , finished it. It And our with child had nothing. When I started to complain they even didn’t apologize. I mean to wait for a food 1,5 hour is crazy at the pub. The food was not nice at all too. The manager also came to me telling that I am complaining too loud - no apologize nothing. The staff thinks that everything is fine with their kitchen. Never ever I will go back, and will never recommend such a place with so rude staff. .
Lovely establishment, well trained friendly staff, food and drinks excellent. Dog friendly- perfect place to stop for a bite pre/post walking in area.
A large restored victorian hotel, £700 a night. Bar on ground floor worth a visit. Wooden floors, furniture, plenty of portraits / art. Not too expensive.
What a superb place. Such a warm welcome, great food and amazing staff. I finished the evening with their special ‘Nessy’ Latte!
Booked in the flying stag for lunch and drinks. Served mainly by Connor and Alex on Saturday 10th, and a couple of other members of staff. Very attentive, friendly and welcoming. We had our small dog with us and they brought him treats and water. We also had a table by a radiator to keep him warm. Lovely service from both and would recommend to others.
This is exactly what I think of when I think of a traditional Scottish hotel/pub. Brilliant, authentic decor. We didn't stay, just visited for dinner. The food was great, the service was welcoming and attentive and the prices were very reasonable!
