I was traveling solo around Scotland and I had a lovely stay with Lindsay & Pauline at The Firs! It was a quiet and pleasant B&B with comfy bed and room, a nice sitting area, well located and a delicious breakfast! The hosts are both interesting, pleasant and very helpful. Lindsay is a retired physician and Pauline is a good artist, and poet. We had some great conversations, along with another great couple staying there at the same time, Amanda & Robert. I couldn’t have asked for better B&B companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and laughter! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
We've visited The Firs twice and both times have had a wonderful experience. Pauline and Lindsay and Marta! are generous and warm hosts who run an excellent, welcoming B&B. They are incredibly friendly and we have had many lovely conversations with them. The breakfast is, we think, the best in Scotland, the rooms are clean and cosy and the setting of Blair Atholl is stunning. Cannot recommend highly enough!
If I could give this place more stars, I would. Lindsay and Pauline are two of the nicest humans we have ever met. Their breakfasts are incredible, their hospitality is unrivalled. The location is idyllic, the guest house rooms are cosy, warm and comfortable. On the doorstep of the beautiful Cairngorms. I never ever want to leave!! We will certainly be returning. Highly recommend this wonderful place.
It was one of our most memorable stay in Scotland... Paulina was not present that day and Dr Lindsay is an amazing host... Since we are from India, he narrated us about his dream to visit Jim Corbet National Park in India.... The view from the windows is amazing and the rooms are soo romantically cosy....The dining space in night, seems like straight from a fairy tale .. I refer everyone to at least spend one day at Firs.... Rooms: Rooms are big enough to adjust 3 people,in our case, we were four and a kid and there was just one room left... But we slept comfortably...but I wl suggest to take 2 rooms if more than three people are traveling... Beautiful decor, big enough bathrooms and most importantly, beautiful view... Nearby activities: There is a castle and museum...unfortunately we were running out of time, so cudn't explore, but the property itself is so beautiful, that anyone would love to spend a cosy Sunday just looking at the beautiful mountains, sipping coffee... Or even chit chatting in the dinning area.... Dr Lindsay is a very learned man.... We enjoyed talking to him about wild life and science... Walkability: Not too far from the near by attractions... There is very beautiful tiny bridge which looks amazing in the morning... Not too far from the nearby marketplace Food & drinks: Good quality food but no idea about drinks as we are all non-drinkers.... But since they have maintained the standard in everything else, hopefully drinks are also good... Anyways its Scotland.... So it has to be Noteworthy details: Value for money... Beautiful atmosphere... Cosy... Cute... Beautiful rooms...Amazing hosts... If you are heading towards Isle of Skye or Inverness, I wl suggest to take a break.... And vice versa...
We had a really lovely stay here with nice rooms, nice chats and a really well made breakfast. I would highly recommend this BnB and visit everything in and around Blair Atholl. The owners have great knowledge about the area and nature if you are looking for that. Rooms: Typical British rooms, though comfy and with also acceptable hot water Nearby activities: Blair Castle and Gardens, great hikes around the castle and some nice restaurants and cafes. And pay the brewery a visit! Walkability: Within 10 minutes you are at the train station and city center. Food & drinks: The Loft is really great and around the corner, the golf club is a small nice pub like establishment and the water mill is a pretty great café!
Undoubtedly the friendliest bed&breakfast in Scotland. I was blown away by the service prior to arrival with great help figuring out transport and recommendations on how to handle the on-going train strikes. Lindsay and Pauline are so very kind, attentive and accommodating, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to stay again. The rooms are quiet, well lit and have the most comfortable beds. For the ladies - there are very good hairdryers and lovely shampoo/conditioner/lotions too! I cannot recommend the Firs enough!
The Firs delivers the real Scottish guest house experience, spacious and comfortable lounge and dining room, great breakfast and most importantly friendly and welcoming hosts who help make the atmosphere so different from staying in a hotel in a very positive way. Touches like fresh scones for tea at no extra cost and real maple syrup with your excellent porridge are icing on the cake!
We stayed for 3 nights at the Firs two days after arrival from Australia. I wish we could have stayed longer. From the welcome at the door to the time we said cheerio it was delightful. Pauline and Lindsay are the perfect hosts and made us so welcome. Look forward to returning in a couple of years.Rooms: 5/5
Our weekend visit to Blair Atholl in the early Spring of 2022 was amazing, and our stay at The Firs was one of the best aspects. The food at The Firs was superb and dinner at The Loft Restaurant was great too. COVID restrictions detracted a bit of enjoyment on our train trip, and some renovations on common areas at The Firs were a small negative, but hopefully those will both be over soon. Two days of walking in the hills and around the village could hardly have been better well, less rain might have been nice. Our hosts were engaging, helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. We hope to be able to return.
Lindsay and Pauline what can i say but apart from being first class totally amazing and the most loveliest people we have ever met any one who finds you searching for a place to stay are the luckiest people on this earth. You are both so kind and very helpful please never sell your selves short from the minute we arrived yous were very kind showing us to our room which was lovely with everything we needed and if it was not there you made sure it was , breakfast was fabulous with plenty of variety we where fed like kings, my poached eggs where spot on and to top it off you where so kind when my family came to visit knowing you did us an evening meal you also allowed them to stay for it too, which was very enjoyable fish new potatoes and peas then strawberries and Lindsay's home made ice-cream for afterwards. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem of a place to anyone and if your reading this review trust me just book it and experience what we had you wont be disappointed. thank you to Lindsay and Pauline for making our holiday extra special we will be back ian and jay
