We stayed here for two nights and we were in Room 3. The food was great. We had the Sunday roast, fish and chips and seafood gratin and it was all good portions. The staff were very attentive, especially Libby, who made us feel welcome. She made very good coffee in the morning for us. The room was spacious especially the bathroom. There are no baths but that wasn't an issue for us. The boiler was in the bathroom hidden away and wasn't noisy at all. The large TV was great and all the furniture in the room was nice. It was hot but fans are provided. I loved the breakfast buffet which meant it was easy and quick to have a hot breakfast. The location was also close to nearby beaches and other restaurants as well. The downsides are that the parking is very small space for 10 cards so whilst we did get a space, we did have to go to Lawns Rooms to park as there was no space in the evening of our second night but this was only a minute walk away. Our room was situated outside the store cupboard which meant that we did hear the door shutting often in the morning but we didn't hear the staff.
Went with my partner and her family for Sunday roast this afternoon. We arrived early and were seated promptly, drinks and food orders taken shortly there after. Everything arrived quickly and tasted fantastic. Highly recommend the turkey roast with trimmings, followed by the sticky toffee pudding dessert. We were served by Chris who had a great sense of humour but knew the fine line between keeping it professional and having a laugh with customers. He is a credit to the business. We look forward to our next visit.
Short notice booking for a lovely weekend away and what a weekend at The Feathers. Room and facilities are excellent. Service provided by the staff - Exemplary. Chris H your attention to detail, your customer care and service is highly exemplary and made our time in the restaurant a very relaxing one. Great to meet you. Congratulations to the chef who brought in daily specials and each fork full brought about a wonderful taste sensation. Will we be back? Absolutely Yes. Memories are made by the people you meet and the places you stay. We take away from this stay excellent memories. Thank you.
Booked a ‘romantic package’ this weekend, we stayed in room 6 which was very clean, but could definitely do with a revamp. Bathroom was very nice, but the shower was tiny! We had our dinner in the restaurant, which was very nicely decorated, staff were friendly but unfortunately our main course took almost an hour and a half to come out. I do think they need to sort the pricing out, it would be much easier to have a set menu for each package as at the end of our meal we were presented with a bill for £16 as we’d gone over our ‘allowance’ which then got a bit irritating as we’d left wallets etc in our room. Our bill also cheekily included a discretionary service charge which was taken off at our request. I understand they have been recently taken over, it was a nice trip but some fine tuning is definitely needed
Had Sunday lunch with my family including a fussy 6 year old. Food was great, looked lovely and tasted delicious. Quick and friendly service Sticky toffee pudding was a massive hit with the table. Will definitely be back and can highly recommend
After 2 previous visits to The Feathers for Sunday lunch under the new ownership, we returned yesterday 4th September for Sunday lunch expecting the same quality and service. Very poor quality lunch - meal nearly cold, Yorkshire pudding terrible and beef overcooked and tough - served by a variety of very pleasant but very inexperienced waiting and bar staff. Sat in bar area with “loud” chef telling everyone he was leaving so not impressed and will be leaving it a while before visiting again - if at all - in the hope things improve, Local resident with history of regular visits to The Feathers in the past when it was regularly busy. Sadly service now appears to be deteriorating to the standard experienced the day we visited with some friends for lunch the day after reopening which was extremely poor to say the least but put down to things “settling down” Please get you act together Chestnut to return this great hotel to its former glory.
Went here for a celebratory family lunch and they couldn't have looked after us any better. We were tucked away at the back of the restaurant in a beautifully decorated and bright conservatory. We'd preordered due to the number in our party, and the food came out perfectly. Lovely food, drinks and due to where we were in the restaurant, the smaller children had a bit of space to move about without disturbing anyone. Even our labrador had a lovely time!
This pub is a delight. Well maintained and clean, felt very cosy and comfortable inside. We had a roast and it was utterly delicious, thoroughly recommend the cauliflower cheese. Staff were really friendly too.
Loved the hotel - great location, very friendly, nice decor and breakfasts are epic! We stayed at the Lawn Rooms just down the road which is now part of the Feathers. Great all round and dog-friendly too.Rooms: 5/5
I visited with some friends last night and was bitterly disappointed by the service and the food. My friends are vegetarian and there was only one option for them to have as a main, so poor choice there. I had a burger for main and immediately felt stomach pains and quite unwell. As I am writing this the next morning, I still feel poorly. Service from the staff was poor. Quite rude as the waiter would be laughing and chatting with his colleague whilst he was serving us - and to top it off - had to pay a service charge? Didn’t get good service at all so felt quite cheated. Won’t be returning and very dissapointed as the interior has been revamped to a nice standard but after that, it went very downhill.
