Dined here last night and had a wonderful meal that was excellent value with 3 courses and drinks included for £20 with wonderful friendly staff. Opted for garlic bread with cheese which was nice and full of flavour followed by the cajun chicken which was nicely spiced and worked well with the garlic mayo and the chips had a very nice crunch to them. Dessert was a chocolate and chantilly sundae which was very nice to finish. Hardest part was choosing since there were so many dishes I liked the look of and will no doubt be returning again to try them soon.
We had a family three course meal with drinks, good value, the portions were plentiful. The four of us all enjoyed the starters, main courses and desserts. We were there to celebrate our son's 20th Birthday, The tood was so fresh, excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The onion rings were especially lovely. Excellent service, helpful and friendly staff. We had a lovely evening. We look forward to the next time.
Visited Fat Olive last night Friday 28/2 4 adults & 4 small children & 1 baby and had a very very poor experience. We were seated at a table upstairs which meant having to carry the pram upstairs Although chef offered us a hand in fairness, would have expected front of house staff to do this? After waiting 40 minutes at our table for drinks we then had to ask if we could order food. After taking our order we had to chase up the drinks. When our food arrived, the starter of Bruschetta with Cajun chicken was actually served on a soggy barmcake!!! We sent it back to be swapped for the "special" of black pudding Rossini. This came out which was a slice of black pudding served on a bed of plain mashed potato with gravy!!! Not very pleasant, certainly for a "special". The main which was also a special of Sirloin steak topped with mozzarella, onions and chilli came with the smallest amount of mozzarella and chopped chillies which was cold. Had to chase drinks again after ordering and were left with empty glasses with no attention from waiting on staff at all. I then went to take my 4 year old boy to the gents toilet to find the cubicle was covered in vomit!! He couldn't use the urinal as he is to small which was a good job as one of them was blocked!! They were an absolute disgrace! So had to ask my wife to take him to the ladies loos We complained, to which the manger came over and apologised and gave us a round of drinks and 15% off our bill but didn't take any action re the gents loos!! I would have thought they should have been shut off and asked gents to use the disabled loo downstairs whilst they were cleaned and sorted out??!!! After ordering more drinks we were then told they had run out of prosecco and that they were trying to source some more to which a member of staff had to go to bargain booze round the corner for a £6.95 bottle what they then proceeded to charge us £19.95. We dine out quite regularly, but this was an absolutely horrendous experience. The food was completely amateur and the service was terrible. We will never return to this place :
Have visited numerous times, food always excellent, great value and the staff are very good. Would recommend the early menu especially if like me you have 3 hungry children
Had an enjoyable meal at the Fat Olive. Warm welcome by staff on a bitterly cold night. Food very good and the final bill was reasonable. Thank you.
Only okay. Overrated. I thought the menu quite basic and there is little atmosphere, especially in a small town with good competition.
Took the family for a meal really enjoyed the food & the atmosphere was like being in Italy
