This was our first visit, we were not disappointed. The food was brilliant and Jack the man who served our meals was very friendly and helpful. He made sure that we all had everything we needed and more. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Our 88year young mother was able to chose what she wanted and he made sure she was happy. We will be visiting again very soon. Thank you so much for your attention and service.

Fantastic Sirloin Steak cooked and seasoned to perfection. The fish that the Mrs had was huge with crispy batter and flaky haddock. ( I had to help out in the end 😀) . Our son had the kid's fish meal. Great service and, in my opinion, great value. We'll soon be back. Cheers👍

Heard good things about this place and was really looking forward to a nice meal with the wife on a Thursday evening. Upon arrival it looked quite busy and there was no one at the booking desk, we stood at the bar for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us, we were eventually shown to our table after about 10 minutes. I thought that the menu was a little underwhelming and the steak options were quite limited, in the end I went for the fish and chips, the wife had baked gammon, I was disappointed with mine, the fish was not very tasty and the chips were too hot to eat for several minutes, the wife enjoyed hers but after trying the gammon I thought it was too dry. On a plus note both our starters were excellent. Not expensive but not cheap either, I just expected something a bit special after hearing so many good things, I left thinking that it was just okay, won't be rushing back

First time at The Fat Boar. Table for 3 had been booked for 8.30pm. This was the earliest that was available, which I suppose shows how popular it is. The premises are clean and tidy and decorated in a modern style. It was to say the least very busy. Unfortunately our table wasn't ready despite us being on time. It took until 9pm until one was available. During the meantime we had some drinks at the bar. The staff were very apologetic. I suppose running a popular venue is a balancing act between bookings not turning up and people turning up on spec - very difficult I suspect to turn down customers when they're standing in front of you willing to spend their money. Due to the wait we were given a free round of drinks and shortly after shown to our table. The menu is set, but has a wide selection of dishes. The staff serving us were pleasant, chatty and attentive. The food was well presented, piping hot and the portions were a good size. More importantly they were very tasty and neither my companions nor I were disappointed. Desserts were varied and again well presented. Would so recommend the place. Yes without a doubt, the staff are friendly, the deco is good, the food is excellent and more importantly the prices are very reasonable. It's a bit of a gem really and hopefully will encourage more restaurants of a similar calibre to the Town.

Booked table for 2 tues night. It was very busy . Made welcome by the bar man. We were seated in minutes. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. There's a lot to choose from on the menu.. the food was excellent... And the price is reasonable. Would recommend.. Will definitely be going there again soon.
