An incredible visit. The food was delicious and I loved how they described where it was sourced. The non alcoholic cocktails were interesting and tasty. They made me feel really welcome and were good for coeliac and gluten allergies. The veggie food was still incredible. Its expensive but worth the money. I would love to go in daylight to see the grounds. Vegetarian options: Tasty veggie options and really easy. Dietary restrictions: Advised in advance of coeliac and they were great about it. Had lovely bread for me.
Just wow. The cooking was incredible, fresh and 100% worth the price. We went for the Experience and every dish blew us away. The service was wonderful and the setting stunning. There's a bar on site if you arrive too early like we did! No need to dress up to the nines either, it's a cosy, comfortable place and you'll want to walk around the garden afterwards.
Had the 6 course tasting menu and was blown away by the creativeness and flavours we experienced. The mocktail drinks were amazing, not just sweet like some but with delicate botanical notes. An absolute must for that special occasion.
A delicious menu, locally grown and sourced. Friendly and knowledgeable team and excellent service. A perfect location with stunning views. A sheer delight and we've already booked to enjoy the winter menu.
Absolutely sensational experience! I booked for 4 people the Ethicurean Experience at 5pm which was a great choice this early in the year as we got to see the gardens in all stages of the light, through sunset and then the dark. The meal easily lasted the full 4 hours and we could’ve spent more time just hanging out around the fire pit toasting marshmallows very happily! The pacing and the food here is exceptional, over the evening you eat 14 different “courses” might be a bit of an oversell, but certainly 14 distinct creations and this is moving throughout the gardens and building, which makes the evening flow very nicely. I can find no fault with any of the food, every course was truly excellent and was the best presentation of the ingredients I have had. Special mention to the confit of chicken leg! Finally a special mention to all the staff who were friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming at all stage. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special memorable evening!
Mm mm mmm the flavors certainly were melting on my tongue. I went for the dinner exprience and for my first time trying a tasting menu, I was really impressed by the intense flavors in every course. Also super friendly staff and cosy atmosphere thanks!
What a great location! What a great experience! First you are greeted at the entrance to the Walled Garden with a drink created from products from the garden, then drink in hand you can wander through the gardens. We arrived just after sunset and experienced the afterglow in the sky. At the restaurant you are treated to another delicacy which you can also consume outside. Once inside you get another two hors d'oeuvres with an optional cocktail before being seated. In all you, including the food served outside finishing after the main meal around a fire pit, you get 10 or 11 novel items to try. Included in the meal are drinks, either alcoholic or non-alcoholic, selected to go with the food being served. To be honest, i didn't like the dessert wine and was fifty fifty about the first wine. However, that's not too say somebody else wouldn't like them. For most people they will be new as well the food. All the food and wine is ethically produced and served with a smile and explanation about what is offered. I didn't pay for this, but seems it is pricey, so can't comment about this. However, they pay their staff a decent wage and the service charge is included in the price. Everything is done in an ethical and sustainable way, even in the toilets, which is really good to see. Big meat eaters may be disappointed as there isn't a huge amount of it, but it comes from nearby. Equally disappointed may be vegans, as there doesn't seem to be an option for them, though much of the food on the face of it did seem vegan. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening though which lasted several hours. The only niggle i had was that they charged extra for tea and coffee. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who is adventurous and wants to try something new.
What a wonderful place, what wonderful staff, what wonderful drinks and most importantly what amazing food! Each course a new surprise, a new delight, a huge flavour from an unexpected source or an unexpected tingle in your taste buds of some tiny but essential source from your amazing kitchen gardens. Just an amazing experience on all counts.
A tricky review to write because the food itself is delicious and service excellent but we were still left wanting more. I'm comparing this taster menu to other similar experiences in the same price bracket As you would expect the portions were small and I mean really small and smaller than other taster menus. We didn't leave feeling well fed. My partner had the pescetarian menu. When I was served a meat dish, she was served a veggie dish. For the price, I thought another fish dish might have been more appropriate. At the end of the meal we were asked if we wanted coffee, we assumed this was included in the price we weren't told it was extra but were charged an additional fee. There are no lights in the garden so you will need to use your phone's to guide you on the walk back to the car park. It's a reasonably long walk down a hill through the gardens. Wouldn't have fancied it with elderly relatives. The dining room is quite chilly. Was thinking of asking for my jacket back. All together a v.tasty meal, excellent service and interesting, relaxing surroundings but not great value for money.
Entirely justifies its reputation. Stunning location, tasteful and roomy restaurant, warm service and truly outstanding food and drink: locally sourced, innovative recipes, elegant presentation, and wonderful flavours.
