I normally don’t write bad reviews but I’ve visited here a few times and whilst it’s never been knock out the last visit was a major let down.nWe came in with kids in half term wanting milkshakes and coffee, it was 11am.nWe were told we could only sit at high tables at the front inside on stalls unless we ordered food.nI had a 2yo with me and explained we would need a low table/ high chair and asked to sit the other side.nI said it didn’t need to be outside if theynwanted to save those tables. Was told no.nI said we’ll only be 30 mins, we’d promised the kids milkshakes. Still no.nThe side ‘only for food’ only had 2 tables taken so maybe 8 free tables?!nI’ve also sat there before with friends just for a wine.. so why that day it was different I’ve no idea? The tables weren’t reserved.nThe lady behind the bar was so rude and dismissive. Just turned her back on us.nnI would like to add that brunch co who were packed out said of course we could take up a table of 6 and just have drinks! We went to marmalade in the end as brunch co only had smoothies but neither of these thriving cafes would have turned away custom.nThere were only 3 tables taken the whole of the Estuary, a bizarre way to run a business but I sure won’t be returning!
Food is always good and large portions. Service was pretty slow though, ended up collecting our own drinks from the bar because we’d waited so long. Our waitress could have been a bit friendlier…
The food portions are really good for the price and a very nice atmosphere. Though service made us feel out of place. We looked up reviews and knew the portions were big, and as we weren't too hungry, we opted for a few plates to share. The servers were not happy the we were sharing food and we're very inquisitive judgy. We still spent about 25 quid each on a few bits to eat so I don't get why they were acting so weird about it. Also it was very messy as there was three different servers constantly coming up asking the same things and delivering the same information. The experience wasn't the best honestly and we do not intend to go back at all.
We visited the estuary on Monday for lunchtime we didn't have any reservation but the venue wasn't that busy, we ordered the estuary burger and the breaded goat cheese salad, the portions are a good size and if you order the mains normally they come with two sides, even chicken wings!!.nnThe vibes in the restaurant were good but a little bit tight between tables, it wasn't that busy so the service was quick and easy and the food came relatively quickly.nnPersonally the onion rings on the burger weren't that great and the salad was short of beetroots just a few here and there but definitely it was tasty.nnThank you so much to the staff for the service.
Go for the food not the cocktails..... the food here is good, generous portions and tasty. But the cocktails are poor. The dirty margarita is like they poured a pot of chilli in, giving too much of a burn and the pina colada was just pineapple juice and rum, missing the cream.
