We were on our third night of a charity walk from Salisbury to Oxford. We arrived a.) late b.) exhausted c.) covered in mud. Peter greeted us and could not have done enough for us. Making light of the mess we were in, he ushered us into the restaurant, some time after it was supposed to have finished serving, and we had a great meal. The rooms and beds were fine and we were off again in the morning after a very early breakfast. A great experience; I would recommend hotel and restaurant to anyone.

Popped in whilst in the area after reading the reviews. Very friendly and welcoming. On a cold winter day it was very pleasant to have a roaring log fire. The food quality was very high for both the main courses and deserts. Would recommend this place.

Cosy, beautiful B&B in a charming village. Perfect place to experience the rhythm and quality of English life. People are open and extremely friendly, the service is impeccable. Breakfast is absolutely great.

Me and wife ate here for first time tonight to be honest we had never heard of the eagle luckily we were let down by another restaurant who were having staff problems so looked online for a place on the doors and can not believe we have never heard of this place £25 3courses and could not fault a single bite the goats cheese brulee with beetroot sorbet & the pate starter were fantastic the lamb main was almost faultless being picky could have done with a splash more jus and my wife's gnocchi as she put it you can tell a good restaurant by there vegetarian option as they have to try harder and be more imaginative and not go for the easy option like a mushrooms stroganoff finishing off with the mango cheese cake and the creme brulee was the perfect end to the meal with a few drinks and a bottle of wine £80 as well as the front of house being great antentive but not obtrusive all I can say is we will be definitely going back 9.5/10 expect to hear more from this place in the future
