Just had Christmas dinner here, 4 people @ £89 per head. To say I’m disappointed would be a massive understatement Waited best part of an hour for the starter. Prawn cocktail, no great shakes, bit of salad in wine glass with a couple of king prawns on the rim. Very dry, hardly any sauce. Then the soup arrived in a coffee cup - cold. The biggest disappointment was the main course. The roast potatoes were hard and uncooked in the middle as was the carrots. My mashed potato had a crust on top as if it had been kept under one of those “keep food warm lamps” too long. And my wife’s duck breast was raw, we ended up sharing my turkey. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the pudding was very nice. Including drinks I spent well in excess of £400 for one meal and came away wishing I could have gotten a kebab. My dog ate better than me on Christmas Day. Parking: Plenty
Called in at short notice for some lunch. A lovely country pub with masses of seating areas. The staff were lovely and engaging. The only downside was the limitation of hot sandwiches. I ended up picking the beef sandwich, which was delicious but I would have preferred it hot. Overall very good and I will go againFood: 4/5
Great food, friendly service and lovely surroundings. Only 4* for atmosphere as it was quiet when we went. Staff go the extra mile to welcome you, easy to book online and lots of parking.Food: 5/5
Been a few times and really enjoyed our meal, but tonight unfortunately it wasn't upto standard, 45 minutes to our first drink and that was after we asked where they were, food arrived and waitress asked for me to check my mash was hot !!! It was very luke warm, broccoli was cold the fries were cold on another dish. I politely informed them & when the bill was given the mistakes were rectified in the bill, it is expensive eating out now and the experience should be perfect.
Been a while but we decided to book for Sunday lunch with the family. Food great, no real complaints. My chinese starter was a tad cold but was edible and very tasty. The 3 soup recepients were very complimentary, as were the children with the garlic bread. One of the group had sausage and mash for main - and it was just that, no veg, not even garden peas, which I found a tad strange. I myself had surf and turf, delicious but not impressed with the paper beneath the pile of food! Got very soggy very quickly resulting in a not very pleasant mouthful of paper with my food. Overall, very nice, will more than likely be back.
We arrived tonight 27th Dec, to celebrate my sons birthday 4 adults and 3 children, booked for 6.15pm eventually ordered food and waited till 7.20pm , 1 dish was missing and had to wait another 15mins ,we ordered 3 desserts at 8pm but had to cancel them at 8.40pm the children were tired and we couldn't wait any longer. My husband complained, we had been there 2 1/2 hrs and only had 1 course, they agreed to take the drinks off the bill, we paid and were leaving when we noticed they had charged us for the desserts when we went back to speak to them we were treated with total disrespect, terrible attitude we won't be back!!!! Dietary restrictions: There weren't any
Nice location, good pub type food. Worth checking ahead to avoid busy times. Plenty of room if you have a large group. However, they did forget our desserts until reminded, but then didn't charge for them.Food: 4/5
Lovely place, for a meal or just a drink. Good food and great service. Would highly recommendFood: 5/5
Just been to Eagle at Barrow for the 2 for 1 burger offer £15.00. Well that's what we paid 1st time which included fries or chunky chips, tonight had to pay £3.75 per person for fries or chunky chips so price was £22.50. Going to Bertrums next time as all is included for less the price. Very disappointed with the Eagle
Nice place with a lovely atmosphere, shame about the food quality. Fish pie came out stone cold in the middle for my mum and the kids food I wouldn't have served to my golden retriever at home.Food: 2/5
