First time at The Dropping Well, I had a positive impression. We did not book; still, the staff managed to find a table for us within minutes. Service was prompt and friendly. Good range of food items on the menu and kids' menu as well. I was surprised by the waiting time; we did not wait more than 6/7 minutes before getting our food. The kids were extremely happy not to have to wait for long. The double back & cheese beef patties burger was great; it was cooked to perfection, juicy, and tasty with a lovely cheese flavor. The fries and peppercorn sauce were good, adequately salted, and in an average portion. The kids mac and cheese were creamy and with a mild cheese taste, perfect for junior customers. The roast of the day was well presented and in a good-sized portion. Overall it was good but on average.
The ambience of this place is really great. We landed there on a Sunday afternoon while strolling on Milltown Road. We had no prior booking but luckily got a place. The place is packed on Sunday afternoons. The food was great & the service was great too. Their staffers are pleasant and attentive and are happy to explain their menu when asked for. I explained that it was my first time at an Irish restaurant and I’m new to Ireland and the lady politely explained the menu which left me delighted.
If your ever on a walk along the River Dodder. Which is very beautiful at the point. Weeping willow shaded walk with waterfalls. Your just steps away from one fantastic place. Food service and the beauty of this place will astound you.
Really nice service, the waitress was super friendly, but food was not up to its name. Fish & chip was not fresh, that fish must stayed in refrigerator for more than 4 days. Beef lasagna has too much sugar in it make me thinking it was made with catchup instead of real tomato. Will not eat in this place again. Give 3 instead of 1 only due to the great service, come on, find a new chef.
Went there for the Valentines dinner. Ordered chicken wings and simply loved them. The sauce was good and chicken was juicy. However, the other starter we ordered was a Seafood chowder, and wouldn’t recommend it. We always order a seafood chowder in every restaurant/cafe/pub we go, and have tasted some amazing ones, but the DW chowder failed to amaze. It lacked flavours of various seafish in the chowder. The chowder gravy was also little blank. Regardless of this, we ordered the fish and chips for the mains, and to our surprise, we tasted the BEST haddock fish!! Perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and fresh and juicy inside. The caesar salad and the tartar sauce were great too with the fish! In the desserts, had the brownie with the vanilla icecream, brownie was delicious, but just wish it was served little warm. Wanted to give 4/5 but the lovely fish made me do it 5/5!
Excelent little traditional Irish pub serving some delicious food and a nice array of cocktails. Their Guinness game is pretty good too. No much phone coverage inside but sure that makes it a nicer environment
This restaurant never disappoints. High quality meal in a beautifully restored pub next to the water. Casual atmosphere and great food. Highly recommend.
Pretty good place for lunch. I like to bring my family here for a weekend lunch. It's quite nice and cozy inside, with some nice views of the small river outside. Service is quick, and the menu has quite a lot of options, both for food and drinks, it really does. The roasted beef is probably the best option, and quite a generous serving. The large chowder is only large on the name though, felt more like a starter. It tasted good, but not really a top choice here in my opinion. But given the variety of the menu, I'm sure there's a good option for anyone really.
This restaurant has recently undergone some fabulous renovations, and changed their seating layout and style. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Kid-friendliness: The staff were very patient with my toddler who was loving walking up and down the ramp.
I love this place!! It is a great place for locals. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. I have been there several times and I will definitely go back.
