It's best to visit the dark hedges early morning as you can see the beauty without any crowd. Visiting this place no need a parking fee and no entry tickets. A beautiful location worth visiting while you were in Northern Ireland. It takes around minimum 30 minutes for a complete walk but the place has It's own charm to keep you spend more time there. Never feel to leave the place.
Magical place. Went in mid springtime so the leaves had not covered the tree yet. You will have to walk through the cafe and shop area and there is technically no direct path to see the trees. It was still very magical. Make sure you put in the visitors center in your GPS as the destination, as it might bring you to the dark Hedges road and people will not be happy when seeing a car drive down as they are trying to take pictures!
An iconic location well worth a visit. You can't drive along it and have to park some distance away and then walk along a busy road with no footpath. The most effective photos are taken with a zoom lens and with nobody else there. Good luck with that one
No need to buy the tickets or pay for car park- because both are free They have a massive car park which they don’t even ask for a penny to park there. I have seen this a lot in NI , compared to England, there are many free parking spaces. Hopefully stays the same. If you lucky you will be able to capture the beauty with no crowd at all. Or could wait for a while . Well worth going out for a walk or picturesque park for insta. Wheel chair friendly and they have Cafe but they were closed when we arrived at 18:15 . Highly recommended
I know that there is a link between games of thrones and this place, but as I wasn't into it this had no bearing on my visit. The trees forming the avenue are impressive, and for this reason alone it is worth a visit. There is a free car park nearby, which I recommend using. Do not be like the selfish people who ignored the road closed signs and spoilt the views for others. Also the local farmers do not appreciate people going onto their land, as their signs show.
The place is absolutely gorgeous, but people keep coming in with their cars and parking in the middle of it, ruining completely the views. I understand that some people need the road to get to their homes, but maybe a fence or something would be good. Otherwise the place is gorgeous. There is a house a few meters from the hedges that is SO asymmetrical it's painful btw
A magical, fairytale yet eerie location covered in over 200 years old beech trees. Filming location of Game of Thrones. Ample parking and other facilities available at Dark Hedges Experience centre which is very close by. Recommended if you are a Game of Throne fan. Free entry and ideal to go early in the morning if you fancy taking some decent photos without a crowd.
Got there at sunset. My other half's a Game Of Thrones fan. I'm not. It's definitely a beautiful sight. However not at its best. Many trees have fallen. Not sure if it's the recent storms, but its taken something away from the spectacle. Still worth a trip for a GOT fan. But don't come to Ireland just for this. There's many other things to do close by. Giants causeway, Bushmills distillery closed when I went so bake it into a wider day. And 100% get there at dawn. We saw like 7 people the whole time. So good.
Visited in early afternoon on a Wednesday, we were with a tour bus so when we arrived it was fairly quiet. One thing I will say is try to get ahead of the people you are with on the bus, that way you have the best chance of getting a shot without crowds, sometimes however its unavoidable if there are people already ahead. We spent about 30 minutes here, its great for photographers or those who just want a special portrait shot. Some of the trees are quite impressive and I think its worth a visit.
Lovely to experience. Accessible parking, bearing in mind that it is what it is a back road. A beautiful experience and a lovely family walk. The leaves aren't on the trees yet but its still very pretty.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
