"The Cutting Room" in Barnoldswick is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a professional service in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere. All of the team are pleasant and helpful. I have been to numerous hairdressers in the past and usually change if I am unhappy with the experience. I decided to use "The Cutting Room" after a disaster at a salon in Barrowford when my regular hairdresser was on holiday and a junior was let loose on me. I felt that they just handed me on to a less skilled person because I was an older person rather than one of the younger clients with whom they bantered about football and nights who were more trendy than me. The result of the unsupervised work was such a dreadful cut that they said I didn't have to pay. In retrospect they should have compensated me and given me a wig. The clientele at "The Cutting Room" cover all age groups and types of service. I like to observe what is going on whilst I am having my hair done and I have noticed that every customer is listened to, treated respectfully in a friendly and pleasant manner. I have been to more expensive salons where the staff are more concerned with themselves, chat to one another or are so "cool" they make you feel uncomfortable. The staff at "The Cutting Room" are skilled and professional, give advice and don't force expensive extras and products on you. These are for sale and they will explain their value and use but you don't feel pressured to buy. Vanessa cuts and colours my hair and so I can personally testify that she does a very good job and I am always complimented on the cut by friends. She chats intelligently and about a range of topics if we feel like it or works quietly if that is what we want. A personal dislike of mine is the "one size fits all" stereotype hairdressers conversation of holidays and what are you doing on Saturday night because I can never think of anything exciting enough to engage a 22 year old and just end up feeling boring! I am not an expert on the normal cost of hairdressing services but am always happy with price. As with all organisations and businesses the ethos comes from the boss. In this case it is clear that the owner leads on the tone and promotes a positive and welcoming environment both for customers and staff.
