Can't review the restaurant and the hotel separately, but they are both amazing and get 5 stars each! The hotel is very comfortable. It's clean and spacious, and they're welcoming of pets. Aggie and Gus Gus had a great time. Love that there's a cafetiere in the room. The restaurant where breakfast is included is amazing too. We had dinner there, and it was delicious and quite reasonable. The breakfast was superb too! Lots of choice and prepared fresh and hot! Rooms: Clean and spacious, good amenities. Food & drinks: The pub attached has really really good food Noteworthy details: Pet friendly hotel!!
The people who all work and run this place are the best. They’re friendly, upbeat, funny and kind and really made our stay. The food was great, delicious big breakfasts. The location was great for us walking The Cotswold Way. The only suggestion would be for better bedding and softer pillows. My friends had no complaints so maybe it was just me. Overall though, would absolutely book again and just ask next time about a pillow as I’m sure they would have changed it.
We stayed here for three nights to travel to Bristol and Bath. We found the room very comfortable and had everything we needed. All the staff were wonderful and genuinely lovely and welcoming. We enjoyed the cooked breakfast and we ate in the restaurant only one night but thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. We had our dog with us so our accommodation was located at the back of the pub, we could park close to our room so this was great for us.
Great location between Bristol and Bath, breakfast was fabulous, the staff really make this place! We had an incident where our shower wasn’t draining and it flooded our room. It was very quickly dealt with, and were very thankful for the kindness of the staff member who dealt with it. But does highlight some maintenance is needed in the bathroom. Overall a nice stay
Very good reception on arrival. Very good value for accommodation. Food was also very good and well priced. All round excellent service. Suggest you put non-slip mats in the bath for getting in and out of the shower - went my full length on the slippery bath. No other issues.
Fantastic base for the surrounding area. Room was clean, comfy and spacious. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with a wide choice available. We had two evening meals which were both delicious. Nice decor and atmosphere in pub. Quiet too considering the location is between roads and pub. Only 10 minutes from Lansdown Park and Ride for visiting Bath for the day. Will be back!
Stopped off here, for lunch, on the way back from picking our twins up from university, for the Christmas holidays. Initially, when we went in, we were told they were booked out, and it was certainly busy! However, there was a cancellation. Twins had mussels and wild mushroom soup, both of which were great. For their main one had calves liver, and the other had fish and chips. Both very good. My husband and I had an 'ultimate' toasted sandwich, with fries. It's a pleasant pub, primarily geared for food, and a great place for a stop off.
I travel a lot for work, and compared to many hotels/pubs, this one stands out as one of the best. Nice rooms with comfortable bedding, warm heating, decent size TV, very modern shower room, perfect and typically British cuisine for breakfast and dinner, very well cooked, some nice local brew, and the landlady is down to earth and friendly. Will definitely stay here again, as will another customer I spoke to over breakfast.
A warm and very welcoming pub in a great location with all important easy access and good car park. Lunchtime menu sufficient and varied served by pleasant and efficient staff. A favourite choice for my wife and I and friends. Well done everyone, see you again soon.
After many years we returned to the Crown as our friends were staying there. We were welcomed as we walked in , and presumably the owners were friendly and helpful all evening. The food was good and plenty of it. Our friends had two rooms in the converted buildings at the back and were very pleased with the accommodation and breakfast.
