An amazing b&b. Stayed over a night. Food and breakfast is great. Also used for weddings. Huge car park. Friendly staff accommodating your last minute needs. Rooms are next to a busy road but they made the sound insulation so well that you don’t hear anything. Also surrounding areas are full of history. Take a walk around to see the 16th C battlefield.
Just had a fantastic weekend at the Cromwell. Excellent accommodation. Excellent food. Excellent atmosphere. Polite and friendly staff made us feel very relaxed. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great time. We will be back Rooms: Clean and comfortable Nearby activities: Historic town set in lovely countryside Safety: Asked about allergies at every meal. Fire doors and detectors everywhere Food & drinks: Great food in the restaurant. Steak and ale pie is to die for. Huge breakfast.
We stayed for 2 nights celebrating our wedding anniversary. The room was beautiful & spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant was lovely & the staff were very friendly. We were given complimentary Prosecco which was a lovely touch & made our anniversary even more special Rooms: 5/5
Review is for the restaurant only, I didn't stay at the hotel. Great service with friendly and attentive staff. We chose this place as they had interesting vegan options. I was especially interested to see a vegan dessert that wasn't brownie no insult to brownies, it's just great to have variety. The pea tortellini has a vegan option. I assumed this meant without the cheese so asked for it without cheese. The staff went above and beyond to check with the chef if vegan cheese was available and then checking with me if I would like this added. I followed the pasta with a coconut panna cotta which was excellent!
It has taken me this long to submit a review, after my worst experience ever at a hotel, which took place the week of June 9th. We travel a lot! I would highly recommend you stay away from this hotel. Yes some of the staff were wonderful, but there are clearly some serious security problems at this hotel, and training problems. Without going into to much detail. I had jewellery taken. The staff were not helpful what so ever. I never received a single phone call from staff, or the company that is supposed to represent this hotel. We were there from Canada, as my husband was at the Marine Training Facility. Do not stay here. I made a police report, and they did investigate, and of course my jewellery, which were not only valuable in price, but meant a lot to me, one piece was the first piece of jewellery my husband purchased for me over 30 years ago. Needless to say a lot of crying. Once again, I don't feel good writing a review like this, but the hotel left me no option. The safe in my room was not functioning, so I asked them to hold my valuables in the hotel safe. I later learned the hotel safe wasn't functioning, and the manager told me he kept it in a locked drawer. I personally saw a safe repair van at the hotel, and thought it was odd. The manager never took my valuables from me, or gave them to me, so he was not the only one dealing with valuables, even though he told me he was the only one with a key. Also be aware, the staff, there were three cleaning staff members when I handed my valuables to a woman at the desk, and one of the staff said the code to get into the room safes, obviously, the main code. That struck me as a serious security problem. There were some wonderful staff, don't get me wrong, but I just want to warn others. Do not stay here.
Once air con is sorted, this place will make a perfect stay. Beautiful rooms but we froze!! Evening food very good but breakfast selection very poor indeed.Rooms: 5/5
I thought the staff were really attentive and so helpful. The washrooms were exceptional, we only had a drink and did not stay in the rooms as we were on are way to the Crematorium ,but I would definitely stay here if I was in the area again.Service: 5/5
Great room but a bit disappointed by the restaurant as the menu was very limited. However the evening meal I had was very nice. Continental breakfast selection was also very limited.Rooms: 5/5
This was our first visit and we went on Easter Sunday with 2 kids. The staff were friendly and happy throughout, there was a man making balloon animals for the kids, they got colouring to do and there was an Easter egg hunt laid on. The food came quickly and was delicious. You really can't ask for more than that. We will definitely be back. Oh and parking was ample and easy too. Food & drinks: Delicious.
Room was lovely. Food and staff were great. Limited selection of meals, but what there was, was great. Rooms: Lovely room. Bathroom was great. Food & drinks: Great selection of drinks. Food choice was smaller, but great quality.
