We had a really excellent meal last night at the Cree Inn, to celebrate my son's 15th birthday. The staff were attentive and really friendly, the dining area was cosy if a little cool and comfortable, and the food was excellent. This is not 'pub grub', it was excellent quality, beautifully cooked and delicious.nThere were 6 of us eating, we all had starters and mains, and 3 had desserts. With drinks included the bill was around £170, which these days offers really fair value, and for the quality it was excellent. Compliments to the chef, and all of the staff.
This is quite a small restaurant and pub, so if you're eating it is advisable to book ahead. The food is very good indeed - we had beef stroganoff, sea bass, and chicken wrapped in pancake, followed by cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess. All delicious. Everything was served up reasonably quickly and the waitress was very friendly and polite. The only minor downside was no decaf coffee. They do ask that if possible you pay in cash due to the high rates the banks change for credit cards, though they do take card payments. Highly recommended.
We were there on Saturday for dinner to celebrate our son's 18th. Cannot fault anything. Excellent customer service, a good menu with plenty to choose from and the food was beautiful and very reasonably priced.nWill definitely be back when we're in the area.
Stayed in Newton Stewart for one night, nothing else seemed open so went to the Cree Inn. We loved our visit - the service was super friendly, the menu had plenty of choice and the food was really nice! Would recommend if you’re staying in Newton Stewart.
The waiters here are very nice and the food is delicious, we are definitely coming back. There was no one there when we went which was sad as it is one of the nicest restaurants we have been to. More people should come here. It is the nicest place to have an evening meal in Newton Stewart. Has a better than average selection of vegetarian options, a great place to take the family!
