Aggressive old man confronted me about my well behaved Jack Russell whom I walked from the car park along the road before leaving him in car to get a coffee. Perhaps he could be advised about personal space and that it is unacceptable to walk right up to people nose to nose. I retreated to the car and put dog in.
Haven't been for a while - this visit was disappointing- waitress in clothes that need a good wash - Seemed like yesterdays ' scones - place smelled like ' the greasy spoon cafe ' - used to be a nice coffee/lunch spot but not now - won't return - !!!!!
Ok so 4 stars for food and I'd give 5 to the two lovely waiting staff but there is one major problem...outdoor seating is not dog friendly. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was because since Covid nearly everywhere with outdoor seating is. To be fair the owner did come and explain his reasons and, as we'd already ordered and paid for our food, he allowed me to keep my dog with us but unfortunately it means I won't be going back.
Parked our car and were greeted by the owner telling us it was private property and we couldn't put our own chairs on the grass. He wasn't interested enough to ask if we were going to order food and we were ordered, along with my disabled son, off the premises. I won't be back and neither will anyone else that I tell.
Really disappointed with our dining experience. Restaurant was freezing, I wore my coat throughout the meal. The restaurant was soul-less, no background music or atmosphere whatsoever. Felt like we were dining in an open canteen. We ordered Bramble cocktails which tasted pretty nasty. The liver parfait starter was outrageous, a slice of cheap pate, supermarket onion relish and a half toasted slice of bread. A small child could have put this together! My partner ordered medium rare steak which was served well done. This was returned to the kitchen and replaced with a medium to well steak. We just accepted that the chef couldn't cook a medium to rare steak. The steak was of poor quality and definitely not 10 oz as advertised. The triple cooked chips tasted weird and unpleasant. The pork was grand but not worth the price. We didn't waste any more money with desserts. Such a poor dining experience. The waiting staff were lovely but the food and drink was overpriced and underwhelming. We left feeling absolutley ripped off. The Faulty Towers of restaurants!
Meal booked for 4 people. Sat down for 18.30. Not rushed. Menu was fairly broad and reasonable. Worked out about £100 split 4 ways. Drinks and meal served timely and hot. Staff attentive but not in your face. Temp taken and sanitising on entry. Not mad busy but very glad we booked. Outlook from venue is lovely. Not our first visit and will definitely be back.
Called in today for afternoon treat. Asked for cream with our cake but told they didn't have any and it would take too long to whip some up. Ordered a coke, we were told they had no ice. Coke arrived already poured in a small tumbler, tasted flat. They charged £2.50 for this!!!! Outrageous!!! We used to enjoy this place when we occasionally visited the area but were disappointed today . The place had no atmosphere and although cakes themselves were lovely, we won't be back .
This evening was our second visit to The Cranagh, delighted both times. Sunday lunch was perfect, great views and a more than decent pint of stout. This afternoon was more of the same. As mentioned previously, the price is fair, the staff are friendly and attentive and it makes for a pretty relaxing visit. I have, and will recommend this to friends and family, I reckon it'll be a regular haunt.
Staff not the most welcoming and you're not allowed to take the dog out of the car... we kinda felt like we were intruding. Nice views.
Nice location on banks of Bann, food is ok but not sensational. Expensive for what is basically pub grub. Restaurant is within what is really a function suite and lacks atmosphere. Could probably do with a revamp, it's never been busy when I've been there and I'm pretty sure it's never very busy. Wouldn't be my first choice in that area, it's adequate but not brilliant.
