Decent pub! Stopped here for a random lunch at the weekend and was really impressed with it. Although it's got a large beer garden we sat inside to escape the afternoon heat. Waiting staff were superbly attentive, and the food was excellent. I had the vegan burger with sweet potato fries and would happily have that again. Pleasant ambiance and easy parking. Must go back!
Booked a Sunday lunch here today with friends as staying locally. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating to our awkward meal requirements and all the food was delicious. I am vegetarian and the roast was so nice, veggie wellington and cauliflower croquettes were amazing! We all thought it was great. Thank you, we’ll be back if on holiday again
We stopped here yesterday after a day out in the area. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Laid out nice table for 10 people, quick table service and even found some candles for a friends kids 9th birthday and brought cake out. Staff were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Food was well executed, with great portion size and very tasty. Thanks for a great afternoon meal!
Visited today, four adults and four dogs. Booked a table, and got there a bit early. Staff were happy to give us another table until our booked table was free. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Was really impressed, felt nice not to be rushed, and the dogs were spoilt by staff too. The roast dinners were gorgeous. Left there very pleased, great service, lovely staff, great food. Not a single complaint. Maybe some other pubs should take note. Thank you for a lovely visit with our friends.
The food was absolutely incredible. I had chicken with the most delicious white wine sauce with mushrooms and creamy mash. The photo doesn't do it justice. My husband had lamb and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our first time visiting the pub and we were all so impressed. The service was awesome. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
I initially looked at this venue for my late Mother's funeral wake as it was close to the venue but ended up choosing it because of how attentive the Event Manager Jess was on first meeting her. She completely understood how important attention detail was on the day and helped me create exactly what I wanted for the afternoon. We chose the Afternoon Tea option which was done beautifully and all the food was excellent. The venue looked as I had envisaged... warm, welcoming, candles lit and the Memory Table set up perfectly. I would highly recommend The Cowdray Arms for anyone looking for a venue after being at the Surrey & Sussex Crematorium. You will be well looked after during this difficult time. Thankyou for everything Jess.
Almost empty at 3pm but full menu available. Delicious salt and pepper squid and bbq chicken ribs followed by succulent rib eye steak and best ever huge portion of chips and lamb cutlets with rosemary spuds and vegetables. Enough for a doggy bag! Good friendly service. Reasonable for a special meal out. Only quibble was piped muzak.
Christmas dinner at the Cowdrey! Oh dear, what a mistake. Whilst the food was of a standard you might expect the service was absolutely awful. We sat and ordered drinks but drinks were finished before the meals arrived. This was a for taste of what was to come. After finishing our meal we were a little surprised that no one had bothered to ask if your meal was OK. We sat and waited patiently for deserts but after an hour and going to get our own drinks from the bar we queried where deserts were. Apparently there had been a miscommunication among the staff and no one was now looking after our table. After some wait deserts arrived but again no one was looking after our table so no coffee and mince pie was delivered, even though this part of the set menu. After another long wait we decided we could wait no longer and went to settle the bill and complain. The complaint was taken nonchalantly as if it happens all the time, no reduction to the fixed price meal was offered even though the meal was not actually served completely. I let the management know the service was appalling and all he could do was repeat 'appalling'. We certainly will not be going back and I advise you to avoid.
We passed this Pub many times and its always look busy. Finally we manage to stop for lunch. Its nice pub by the junction. Easy to remember. Big car park. The food was good and delicious, service was OK, the waitress/ waiter are friendly.
I hadn't been there for years! I was at the pub with a friend last Thursday. I was really impressed with the pub's internal decoration. Very welcoming. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. I hope to return in the not too distant future.
