I started here in 2015 to study Film Studies, Maths, Computer Science and IT BTEC Level 3 Sub Diploma. My first year results were not as good as expected, therefore, in my second year I dropped Film Studies and Maths to concentrate on Computer Science. I really struggled with my A-levels,and I don't think that is because of the college. Collyers regularly encouraged me to work harder. The quality of the teaching was average, but considering they manage over 1000 A-level students it's quite impressive. I played rugby in first year and sometimes enjoyed it. My goal was to get the right qualifications for my degree which I did. I have now completed my degree in BSc Digital Art and Technology Live Media Design. Collyers did get me where I needed to go, and I learn a lot about myself while studying here.
It was ok academically but the suport wasn't great, i fealt pushed out of the college. I was told that i was better suited at work and i should drop out. I had also asked for suport in leason because i was struggling but got extra leasons wich did not help on top of that i was sent to my head of house who spoke to me like i knew nothing and i was a small child. But if you want to go to a college that has good academic based learning and not to good of support here is ok.
A wonderful college to attend. Staff are very thoughtful about your future and are always there to assist you with needs from careers to exams. The teaching depends on the course however a lot of the teachers are passionate when it comes to teaching and are always there when needed via email. Collyer's is a wonderful place to study and I certainly recommend it if you're thinking about going onto university.
Had great 2 years in this school as an international student from HK. Workshops are provided for pupil couldn't catch up. My art teacher was GREAT!!!! The downside is that the maths teachers I had weren't teaching but expect you to self-learn everything which caused difficulties when I was studying C3 and C4.
Terrible place to learn. The college only cares about a student if they’re incredibly clever or badly behaved. Average student don’t get any extra help. Was constantly threatened with expulsion if my grades didn’t improve despite the fact that I was at a steady C in most of my subjects. ALISTAIR MUDIE was the worst for this. Had no idea who the principle was the whole 2 years I attended. Ended up leaving to a different college where there is no favouritism or threats only learning and less like secondary school. And as for Collyers reply to this post, the passive aggressive nature of it should speak for itself and reflects perfectly my experience at the place. Have capitalised the name out of spite. Lol.
