Lovely setting we had the ham hock croquettes which were good. My husband had the burger which he said was delicious. I had the goats cheese and tomato salad which was fresh and tasty . The triple cooked chips tasted a bit stale. The desserts were OK the crumble was a bit too tart but great portion. I had the banana and honeycomb sundae and was disappointed it was basically a banana cut in half and wedged between a lump of ice cream and covered in cream there was no honeycomb at all I not sure what I expected more of a layered effect of caramel bananas and honeycomb it just seemed slap dash.. All in all a lovely pub and we would come back
great food, staff were brilliant from the kitchen and bar. No thing was any trouble. friendly pub, dogs welcome and Tony and Danni were outstanding
I felt the staff were pleasant and the pub had a pleasing interior. The food was average, with a good presentation, but undercooked chips left us with unjustified disappointment. The choice of 'cheesy chips', being served with a cheese sauce on the side left us confused. There was a good selection of beers with a slightly above average price. I felt the garden was disappointing with a heavy concrete vibe, similar to being in a city. The building didn't display any traditional pub signage, which I feel was unjustified in a traditional country pub with good heritage.
We went for a family birthday meal on a Sunday a few weeks ago, and they were absolutely great. Lots of staff, all very willing and flexible. Lovely food and they even had a crèche table where the kids could do crafting things all supervised as well. I don't live close-by but definitely starred for a next time. Thanks guys please keep doing what you're doing..
Good selection of beer and food. The Sunday roast beef was delicious as was all the food our party had. The service was always friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend and we will return when next in the area.
Very good. Staff were extremely helpful and food of a high quality. Menu more varied than usual pub fare. The fish croquette starter in particular was very delicate
Lunchtime visit. Staff sat round a table using their laptops in the bar/restaurant area . Weather was very cold and frosty and inside the pub was cold too. Waitress served food with her coat on!! Fire lit while we were there but should have been done prior to opening. Food was okay, but ambience poor.
Always fantastic food and friendly staff, with a good selection of wines and beers. Occasionally let down by unavailability of certain food items but not enough to deduct a star. I often make an effort to pop in when I'm in the area - equally enjoyable for a summer's evening on the patio or a winter afternoon by the fire.
Staff were pleasant but not overtly knowledgeable. Drinks were eye wateringly expensive, which considering the limited choice they had was more than disappointing. There were no ales on tap, which was the only reason we went. Barmaid made drinks poorly, couldn't remember our order, and then charged a shed load. Always happy to pay the money for good quality and good service, but charging >£5 per spirit with shoddy service is a joke. Will not be returning.
We were a large party of 15 for a Xmas get together. Staff were friendly. Set menu and we had to make choices beforehand. Food was served promptly; starter and main was not hot enough for me. My husbands main was the same but other party members did not comment on it
