Story

I thought we'd better introduce ourselves, now that there are two of us posting on the Clockhouse Facebook Page!
Firstly, here is Sarah-Jane;
"I am fairly new to clockhouse vets, having started in 2015 when I made the scary decision to ditch my safe but unsatisfactory office job and chase my dream. I have always been passionate about animal care and I am currently working towards a position as a Student Veterinary Nurse.
My love for animals doesn't stop at work though. I own, what many people have called, 'a small zoo' ranging from small and furry to long and scaly. So it's 24/7 animals for me and I wouldn't have it any other way!
I feel proud and privileged to work for clockhouse, our team is amazing and no day is the same -we just never know what is going to come through those doors. I hope that through this facebook page I can give you an insight into life in the hospital and show off some of our gorgeous visitors ... the non human ones that is!"

As for me...

My name is Claire Coles-Jones,I am a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse, and unlike the lovely Sarah, I am not new to the Clockhouse Vets...in fact I am currently working my 23rd year there (which makes me feel quite old...!) I believe now the longest standing member of staff!! I started as a trainee some time ago, and over the years have enjoyed the hugely varied work at the Hospital, but my favourite time has to be when I was running Nurse clinics full time, with most of my interest in behaviour work.
However now with a husband, 2 children, 12 chickens, 2 guinea pigs, a cheeky dog, 2 naughty kittens, a horse and some very wild Soay sheep, I can only manage part time work (and that's to go in for a rest from a hectic home life!). I absolutely love my job, and the people that I work with, and consider myself extremely lucky to be able to say that.

Thank you for supporting our Clockhouse Page, it's lovely to get the feedback and comments that we have been getting.

We hope you continue to enjoy the stories that we post - especially the new Sylvester Sunday...I have a feeling that Sylvester's following is about to get a whole heap bigger....!

Thanks again

Claire and Sarah-Jane

I took my cat in to Clockhouse today as I couldn't get into Simply Pets on an emergency and I am very disappointed at how we were treated. Our cat has severe hyperthyroidism with a very high count.Sadly, the vet seemed very inexperienced and didn't listen to what I told him about how seriously ill my cat is. The vet suggested an overnight stay with a drip, pain killers, blood tests and urine tests for £550. When I explained that on a low income that we simply couldn't afford it and if a concession could be made , i just got an immediate no. The vet showed no empathy or compassion for my cat or for how worried we are no would he give an honest diagnosis about how long our cat has to live. As owners who love and adore our cat, we need to be told the truth for ethical reasons. It is not ethical to prolong a cats treatment or suggested treatment for financial and commercial reasons. To top it all, when leaving I was asked to return into the vets with her regular prescribed tablets for her Hyperthyroidism, otherwise they would charge us...for two tablets!!! Unbelievable. I have consulted others who use local vets and they all agree that a concession should be offered or payment plan. Neither was offered. If you are going to charge lots of money -make sure the service is A1, compassionate and ethical. I am very upset. Update: 19/4/18- What a nasty veterinary group you are. I only came to you in an emergency as I couldn't get into your 'sister practice' Vets for Pets in Stroud and today you've sent a letter by recorded delivery telling me I'm not allowed to use Vets for Pets any longer. Again, have you considered the ethical implications of making a cat go into another vets that they have to start again with diagnosis and relationships? How petty and nasty -because I complained online and questioned your ethics and high charges. The professional thing to do would be to apologise and listen to your customers. A warning to people reading reviews, Clockhouse has a bad reputation locally as being only about the money, so don't make the same mistake.

Always happy to help staff and my dogs are happy to be in there and to be acessed without a problem which is always a concern when going to the vets but not here. They leave happy and so do I.
