Although the rooms needed updating they were kept very clean. The fan in bathroom needed sorting as it made such a racket when on. Lovely sea view from room 4. Very good value for a couple of nights away. Food was excellent. Staff were very welcoming nothing too much trouble. I would stay again.Rooms: 3/5
The hotel has an old world charm about it but needs better management. Very poorly staff and constantly running out of simple things like eggs and steak. There are no restaurants nearby so you are reliant on the kitchen to feed you. Could do with some tlc as it's got great potential. There wasn't a great variety of beers either. The staff member that excelled at her job was Heather..she seemed to be multitasking to satisfy the clients needs and she did it with a smile. Thanks Heather Nearby activities: About an hours drive to lake windermere. Walkability: There is no lift here. Food & drinks: Could do with more on the menu but breakfast was nice..
Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Food was good. Burgers were crispy on the edges but every thing else was great. Service and environment were rubbish. No heating in one side of the pub so everyone sat in coats. Big log burner that's just for show. We sat with empty starter plates for 15 mins before removal. And main meals arrived 1.30 hours after we'd arrived!! We were all starving and freezing once food came. Not one I plan to return to.
Lovely friendly staff. Good food. Good beer. Rooms were clean. Camp bed could be more comfortable. Hotel is dated but that doesn't matter it all matches in. Very good locationRooms: 4/5
Good value and excellent views from the beer garden. Rooms are a little tired decoratively as is the rest of the hotel, but clean and comfortable and with all you'd require, a decent sized telly would be welcome! Parking space off road is a big plus.Rooms: 4/5
Extremely good value for money. Gracious and friendly hostess who went out of her way to make me feel safe and happy staying at the Inn. Enjoyed my meal very much, sitting by a roaring log fire. Excellent waitress service and willingness to help me in any way possible. Bedroom clean and comfortable, yes a bit creaky, but wouldn't you be if you were built in 17th century!
We called in after seeing a picture of the surf and turf sharing platter . There was plenty of steak , ribs , chicken wings , king prawns, scampi, mussels, clams and chips . The food was cooked perfectly and full of flavour ......my only criticism of the dish was the fact it had pesto dolloped all over it which I didn't like , but it didn't spoil my meal . Would definitely go here again to try some of the other platters and dishes
The lady serving us acted like everything was a huge effort and when I asked if there were any vegetarian options she said "God, I really hate vegetarians!" We nearly left at that point as half the party are vegetarians. I'm glad we stayed as the food was really good, if a little over priced but the rude lady really put a dampener on our visit.
It was a good hotel for value. We stayed in a good size family room with comfortable beds. There was a kettle, tea, coffee, snacks for free. Only problems were a bit of noise because rooms are above the pub and internet. There was no internet at all, phone covarage was also too bad. The tv did not work but we were not bother to ask the staff. The staff was friendly and breakfast was very good.
Lovely setting. Clean and spacious restaurant and bar area. Efficient staff and a superb Sunday lunch menu. What's not to like?Service: 5/5
