The Chelsea Flower show is a spectacular excellence. This year‘s event was amazing and mesmerising blend of innovative designs and vibrant flower displays. Very impressive indeed. The highlight for me was exotic plant species struggle to survive and how climate change is constantly decreasing their habitat. The atmosphere was lively and full of colour. Restrooms: Plenty of restroom locations.
This is a wonderful event to visit for avid gardeners and anyone that appreciates beautiful gardens and flowers from around the world. The live acts on the stage were excellent The only disappointment was wheelchair access. Basically, the pathways did not take into consideration anyone trying to push a wheelchair around. Several times, wheels got caught in the plastic walkways, or the ramps were too steep. We were unable to get access to quite a few show gardens, the crowds were so deep, people did not pay attention to where they were walking and, on many occasions, walked into us! Very few people actually acknowledged us and made room for us to view. Someone who organizes this needs to push a chair around and provide wheelchair access viewing sections. I'm sorry to say that this year, we felt like 3rd class visitors.
I was working as a show guide seller over the six days. My very first time seeing this famous occasion and it didn't disappoint. The crowds were amazing, and I even got to rub shoulders with a few celebs. A great experience. Hopefully, I'll be back next year.
It's an 'experience'! First visit. Mixed feelings. Almost overwhelming. More like a big music festival. But some brilliant flowers & plants as you'd expect, lovely displays, some lovely gardens, but TV gives you a very, different impression. Crowds staggering. Something seems odd & 'static' to me, about queueing to hopefully & possibly? get glimpses of gardens in-between crowds most, of which you can't go in & actually experience - as they aren't really the same type of thing as rock stars at a concert! . Queues for loos, queues for food, some amazing queues for ice-cream!. Mostly shuffling along very slowly, very crampt, on main concourses, getting hot, tired & often, not being able to see that much really. At its worst, you often can't stop to think, look, or change direction! surged along by the crowds.. Some very nice street food, some nice drinks, not cheap but none of these places are now & varied - assume the more expensive, exclusive packages are probably the way to go if you want to actually relax & sit & eat comfortably at all.. Even all bits of any spare green space & designated 'picnic' areas were massively, crowded. So glad I bought something to sit on, then you might get lucky & find a small patch, esp. later in the day.. Overheard someone say: "considering the demographic, whole event is woefully lacking in seating, shade" etc. I have to agree, mainly due to staggering volume of people. - Toilets pretty good standard, toilet paper & nice hand soap etc, considering high, high usage, but need more of course!... Time/when you go I think is absolutely key.. Many go super early, but I'm not sure how much this actually helps because it fills up quickly?. Assume members afternoons at beginning of week, & lates, are much better. It did start to ease at end of day . Visit loos at the farthest end/corner, as the starting ones & middle, roughly around potting shed ones; queues are often horrendous. Slightly disappointed to feel it's a abit more like a high end expensive trade fair for products & goods in many ways, but it depends what you are most interested in. - It wouldn't feel so, if you had booked the hospitality packages; these probably give you a nice little break , or if you were press.. Should imagine they get the best access to the more natural side of it, the actual gardens .. Also having their own facilities, not all the queueing, much nicer!.. I wouldn't visit in this, manner again i.e. all day, later in week, gen. public but still glad I got to see it at last. Despite exhausting crowds, flowers still pretty spectacular. It makes you want to get into - & have the peace of! your own garden - if lucky to have one so that's good. Do think you could probably get a wealth of gardening advice if you wanted - growers are obviously incredibly experienced, knowledgeable & most appeared friendly & RHS staff manning the advice area/centre itself . The sheer quality of & effort put into some of the plants/flowers is the reason I put a high score, despite the frustrating crowds & effects thereof, which would otherwise have dropped it to be a 3/5. Restrooms: Pretty good standard considering, but massive crowds mean not enough especially ladies. Dog-friendliness: Nope. Waay too crowded! Would be a bad idea & pretty sure it's not allowed only guide etc dogs. Picnic area: Not enough for huge crowds!
Loved this visit in spite of the rain. Such a wonderful experience with friends and later wandering on my own. Excellent food and drink options! I’m a huge David Austin fan!
Had a really great time, sun was out thank goodness, after heavy rain the previous day. Very busy, but not too busy yo see things. Took our own picnic in, as food is very expensive. Bought coffees and a fab ice cream, from a stall selling Cornish ice cream - avoided the horrid whippy stuff. Bought a few plants of course - well you have to really! A great experience.
My first time there, and I loved my experience. A must if you haven’t been yet. Purchase the ticket in advance otherwise you’ll find everything sold out or have to pay a huge amount.i have paid £120 but it’s worth. Restrooms: Very clean and always stocked. Many restrooms around the gardens. Picnic area: Many pity for food and drinks.
Lovely show but the protesters spoiled the entrance to the show. Not many seating around.I enjoyed going to the Cosmopolitan area stalls and cafe across the road.
Absolutely loved the Chelsea Flower Show. The South African protea stand was justifiably a winner of Best Stand. Fantastic display of Proteas grouped by species & colour. We got to meet the wonderful team responsible for designing & building the stand. Quite amazing story of how the team collected all the flowers from various farms & then airfreighted them to the show. Amazing story of individual drive to create a beautiful display without any Government support or sponsorship
Amazing show as always, although the weather was not great, the show was, would highly recommend it
