Venue is very nice, staff were very friendly. Unfortunately none of the bar staff knew how to pour a pint. We were given two pints that were ridiculously short with a massive head. When we asked the staff to top them up one of them pointed to the glass at the 'pint' badge as if to indicate that it was a pint to line glass, when it fact it wasn't. Eventually the staff topped up our pints to actual legal measures. The food was very good, however it did take a while to arrive at the table and came in dribs and drabs rather than all at once. One of our party ordered lamb medium rare, but unfortunately it was cooked Well done, it wasn't worth sending it back as we all just wanted to eat by that point. Overall a positive experience, just more training needed for the bar staff on how to pour a pint!
Me and my friend pictured drove here and were able to park conveniently right in front of the pub! The staff were extremely friendly, one of them even laughed at my jokes which is a rarity. The Guinness was superb and this can be telling of the establishment as a whole. They also offered us a rewards card on arrival which gifted a free pint for every six purchased - very handy if you're going as a large group! The Heineken silver wasn't for us but you can't please everyone in this day and age. Will definitely be back here in the near future.
What a shame! Service average, Sunday roast average but quite small, but more importantly the deserts were absolutely shocking after waiting 40 minutes for them. An apple crumble should not have some form of granola as the crumble, & the Baileys custard was tasteless. My 8 year old left his sticky toffee pudding as it wasn’t even sweet. This place needs to step it up
We looked online for a place to meet family midway over Christmas, travelled about 2 hours to get here. First impressions were good with nice building and parking easy. The team were ready for us, very nice with lots of smiles and speedy on the first drinks. However I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend coming here for a couple of reasons. Most of our party had the steak sandwich which was very disappointing and in some cases the meat was so poor it was inedible. The toilets were from another era, filthy old dark and cold, frankly disgusting. Finally the team seemed to have a visit from an area Manager / Owner whose presence was very unwelcome. He looked angry, unpleasant and was berating the team in front of us. Basically taking no notice of his customers, literally telling the team to reduce portion sizes, manage drink levels, conversations that should never be had in public. This was before we ordered and had we not travelled so far to meet distant family we would have left immediately. Other than the lovely service from a willing team I could never recommend a visit here in the knowledge that higher management were so blatantly ignorant and clearly couldn't care a less about their customer or the team, horrid.
Myself and two friends went here for Christmas Day dinner but it really wasn’t great if I’m honest the service was very scattered and seemed very unorganised . The food wasn’t great and was a bit cold , we were giving the bill without receiving our deserts and when we asked about them they brought them out and took away the bill to add them to it . The whole thing was a bit dissatisfying tbh . Wouldn’t be going back there for dinner again .
What a disappointing experience. Having arrived for a mother's day meal we were informed that part of the pre-ordered set menu was now not available. We then waited 30 minutes for starters to arrive, which were average at best. 40 minutes after table was cleared, we were still waiting for our main course. We tried asking, then after 5 minutes with no answer decided we'd had enough, and decided to leave. The reason given for the delay was apparently a system error, however given that we were the only table sat directly opposite the bar, this clearly showed no attention from the waiting staff that no one had realised. We also noted meals being returned cold from another table. All in all, it appears the pub was hugely under prepared for the occasion.
Excellent home made roast dinner, always busy on Sunday lunch so booking recommended. Have always found the staff to be friendly, landlord is a bit eccentric, but adds to the quirkiness! Good place for a quick pint or a more leisurely at up with friends.
Cute little gem of a pub located on the outside of Ottorshaw. Very friendly staff and a excellent place for a quick drink on a sunny Saturday.
A traditional old English pub. We only went here for a pre curry drink. Service friendly enough. They do have food but didn't try it this trip.Service: 4/5
Had the tasting menu on Friday night, absolutely delicious. Have previously had a tasting menu at a Michelin star restaurant and this was just as good if not better.
