Visited mid-afternoon mid-week. The place was very clean, staff were welcoming, and there was a good selection of well kept beer. As expected it was very quiet so couldn’t comment on the atmosphere, although the pub had a nice feel to it. The menu looked interesting although I didn’t eat there. The inn had a lounge, a couple of dining areas, outside seating and a courtyard, and I was told there was also an upstairs function room with posters advertising tribute bands and a weekly charity quiz. I have given 4 stars due to not being able to comment on the atmosphere or the food. Worth a revisit.
Nipped in for a quick bite on a Friday evening. We went up to what looked like the restaurant bar and asked if it was possible to get a table but were directed to the main bar to ask about this. The place was packed- getting served at the internal bar would have been a bit of a fight. Had a similar experience on a visit here before because there's not much space around the bar so you tend to get an impenetrable crowd instead of any sort of line. Eventually managed to get the attention of a member of staff and were told the restaurant was fully booked, however we could sit outside and order food at the bar to our outside table. Would have saved us some time if that was communicated through the team and relayed by the first person we asked instead of sending us to queue elsewhere. We did order to an outside table, and the food was excellent. The small pizzas really are quite small. But if you have a couple of sides they're perfect to not overstuff you. If you want to just eat pizza probably get a large. Also they had really interesting topping selections on the pizzas- I had the spiced aubergine, creme fraiche and honey. It was absolutely delicious. The chips were hot and well seasoned, the greek salad also really nice- I did miss the addition of peppers and would possibly remove the pea shoots and sub in the peppers to improve this and keep it more authentic though. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere inside was quite cosy and outside had a nice vibe with the tasteful lightning and wooden furniture. Would definitely return but probably make a reservation. It's busy for a reason!
First time visiting and will certainly return. Pizza was amazing with some really interesting and delicious topping selections. Great selection of beers and ales on tap too.Food: 5/5
Delicious food, friendly staff. A nice place to visit. Only downside was, it was crowded. But this is expected in a popular place on saturday night.Food: 5/5
Wow what can I say? I booked a table for 9 of us on a hen party and we simply had the best evening we could have asked for! We were given our own room upstairs, which they decorated for us with a separate bar we could use. The food was delicious and generous portions. The cherry on the cake was our server Dylan, he was happy, helpful, charismatic, entertaining and knew how to keep a group of hens happy - drinks, drinks, drinks! Meanwhile a party was happening downstairs so the atmosphere in the whole place was electric. We couldn’t have had a better night, highly recommend!
What a great find. We felt so at home at The Castle Inn. Great service, great atmosphere and delicious food. On arrival the team told us there was a wait for food which was great for managing our expectations. We stayed and the atmosphere was so good it didn't seem too long a wait. Food was delicious. The pizza was cooked in a special pizza oven and the portions were generous. The manager and hosts came up for general chit chat which made us feel even more welcome. They had a live bad which was great. Thanks so much. We will definitely be back again.
We didn't eat here but the pizza looked amazing, cooked in a proper pizza oven. Dog friendly although didn't seem to be a lot of seating in the bar but I could be wrong on that. Had a nice selection of beers with a craft beer on tap which is my jam.Service: 5/5
Lovely pub, great atmosphere and food was very nice. Salmon main in particular was both unusual and tasty, with beetroot purees and gin and watercress emulsion. Pricey but great portion sizes. Staff were also super friendly and professional.
The Castle Inn it's the most popular place in town. On Friday evening there's music and it's a nice place to hang out, even tough they close very early. Food it's good but nothing special. Price are average for the UK. Service it's great. Overall I recommendFood: 4/5
