Absolute gem and must-visit if you’re in the area! NC500 highlight!! Food was incredible - really adventurous and interesting twist on traditional seafood dishes using fish from the harbour literally 20m away. We have done various tasting menus in the area for much more money than this and this was by far and away the best. We will be back!!
This was the culinary highlight of our trip to Thurso last October and was one of the standout meals weve had in Scotland recently. Absolutely everything about this wee gem is first class from the aesthetics of the dining area in what looks like on old fish cellar to the service from the young staff and the chef who came out for a chat and recommended a few dishes , all very personable and professional but the highlight was the food , beautifully presented and wonderfully flavoured . I had the scallops followed by the calamari with ratatouille while the gf had the braised figs followed by the haddock and chips . This is an essential place to go to while in the Thurso area and have already recommended to a couple of friends who are travelling this way this year.
Very tasty food, but the waiting time was pretty long. We had a starter and a main each and left the Restaurant after 2.5h. If you are not in a rush, the food is worth it.Food: 5/5
Wow! Amazing little gem tucked away in the port of Scrabster. Super fish restaurant with outstanding food. Currently serving in the glass fronted takeaway shed which means you get to people watch across the ferry terminal while eating. Highly recommended - but don't tell everyone!
What a wonderful surprise! The chef was kind enough to make room for their booked out night and so glad I joined. The food was sublime. Started with Carrot and Butternut Soup, lobster oil and focaccia, and delicious scallops and had Bandari Monkfish, adasi lentils, lebneh, coconut, chilli and lime as the main. Stellar experience all around. Staff, setting, flavors, aesthetic. Great value for the experience. Thanks all
What an incredible gem of a place we found this lunchtime! Could not recommend it enough. On the harbour in Scrabster, a small old ice room with stone vaulted ceilings is the captains galley. Spectacular seafood restaurant, fresh fish from the catch of the day. Shortly after ordering our food, the head chef walked out on the harbour while on the phone, to then come back with a live lobster Can’t get much fresher than that, to see the chef go get your lobster. Our food and service was just perfect, lovely place to be.
What an absolute delight it was to eat here, food was to die for, been looking forward to eating here for a while and they did not let me down.Food: 5/5
Very welcoming- we arrived just before 3pm and they stayed open for us for lunch. We sat by the window with a view to the sea. I have got a dairy allergy and they were very clear and accommodating about what I could/could not eat. The green thai curry with the monkfish was lovely and we had local cider that the waiter recommended.
The seafood bar serves food from the restaurant kitchen and so provides excellent dishes in the afternoon when the restaurant is closed. We had partan bree which is crab soup which was amazing and 6 langoustines for starters, then battered scallops and chips with 2 dips and mussels in a sauce also with chips, both fantastic. They looked so good we forgot to take pictures. We washed it all down with local beer and a glass of wine. We had tried to book the restaurant but it was fully booked all weekend yet we walked right into the seafood bar and got great service and food straight away. So don’t be disappointed if you cannot get a table in the restaurant, visit the seafood bar instead.
