One of the best fish dinners l have had anywhere in the world. Velvet crab soup to start was wonderful but the langoustine main course was on an even higher level. Apart from the quality and cooking of the fish the portion size was astronomical - pictures attached. Great service, incredible value. l do however have one complaint - the restaurant is in Scotland and l live in Cornwall..... Can't recommend highly enough
Easily the best spot in town for lunch unless you’re eating at a local’s. Maybe should give 5 stars for options in Mallaig. Food was well balanced, fresh, and fair portions. Staff did a great job managing getting everyone through in time for the Jacobite train and noting when he wouldn’t be able to get them through in time so to go to the takeout side
Tiny dining room, but we were squeezed in! The quality of the fresh fish is outstanding. Although hectic, everything came out hot, and perfectly cooked. As others have noted, the scallops are amazing. Other diners had big platefuls of mussels and langoustine, and even the humble haddock and chips was beautiful. I would eat here regularly if I lived locally.
We stopped here on our layover from the Jacobite Train, and we could not have been more pleased. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. It was just the two of them running the full house and they were so delightful to talk to. There food was incredible and the Gaelic Coffee is a must have. I ordered and it was so good another member of my party ordered. It’s a wonderful locale with great food and great people. I highly recommend
Amazing seafood and great service! The langoustines were really delicious and the clams were juicy and came with the most amazing sauce. Scallops were pretty amazing too. Good prices and very friendly staff.
Outstanding. We’ve just been all over Glasgow, Oban, Skye… and rarely have we found seafood of this standard. The monkfish was fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious, with lovely crispy batter. The scallops were also very fresh and tasty and generously covered in garlic butter. Even the basics were quality - this place serves some of the best chips and THE single best mushy peas I’ve ever had. Highly recommended. The service was also very friendly, despite it being busy.
Food taste good and the plating is beautiful and appetising. The seafood is quite fresh, the langoustine and surf clams were tasty. Grilled salmon has good portions, halibut is unfortunately over cooked. Overall, a great meal but it would be close to perfect if we didn’t have to wait 20mins for our main course. Probably they are short of staff but the service was warm and friendly.
Fantastic lunch - between us we had scallops best I’ve ever eaten, mussels local as well, crab soup, langoustines huge portions and very fresh and hot smoked salmon. Lovely service. Good value for the portions and food you get about £30-35 a head for starter/main/soft drink. Would 100% recommend
Came here for dinner as recommended . It was lovely. Quite a small room, but great welcome as it was full and we managed to get a table in 5 mins. We had grilled haddock, potatoes and salad and a bottle of wine which was absolutely wonderful. Very good quality and quantity. Cost came to around £68, so not cheap, but excellent quality. Fully recommend
Brilliant take away, as a vegetarian I often only end up eating chips at a fish and chips shop but this takeaway did some lovely falafels with salad and a lemon wedge. Rest of the family had fish, chicken nuggets or battered sausage and all were equally good and portions were big! Would recommend.
