You get good food for what you pay for and the majority of staff are lovely however, there are a couple staff members that are just outright rude. I’ve witnessed staff shout across the pub at people, I’ve had some waitresses just come and dump food/drinks on the table and storm off. They always have a nasty expression on their face and rolling their eyes at customers, especially the female manager there. Completely awful customer service from her and others. The bouncer that appears in the evenings is lovely though! Always smiling and friendly! It’s just a shame some staff bring down that reputation. I understand it’s a pub but it still requires an ounce of customer service from everyone.
Although the service was great, the place was spotless, the atmosphere was nice , the time was spoilt for us because at the end of our meal someone came to tell us that our payment hadn’t gone through properly, at the time my grand children were there , grandad was in the loo , the male server just stood there until I followed him back to the hill , leaving my young grandkids on their own . I did pay and the transaction went through , apparently someone called Tom has already told the staff how to do it properly , all in all I was a bit embarrassed and would have appreciated being told a little more privately.
​I came in after a long day at work looking to relax with a cappuccino, but instead, I left feeling deflated and disrespected. The bar staff handed me an empty cup without any explanation. When I pointed out it was empty, she abruptly told me she doesn't make the cappuccino and that I had to do it myself.n​When I asked how, she pointed to three machines. We had no idea how to use them, and when we tried, she literally shouted at us in front of a packed bar, saying we were using the wrong machine and then shouting about which button to press. It felt like being scolded like a child. It made me so hot, flustered, and irritated that I just wanted to cancel the order, but my uncle who was with me still wanted to get me the drink.n​When I told her I’d had a long work day and that this was terrible customer service, she remained incredibly rude, loud, and abrupt. To top it all off, the cappuccino tasted like water. I didn't even bother complaining about the drink quality at the time because the service had already completely ruined my evening. Unacceptable.
Stopped on way to our holiday as can always rely on the chain for a standard pub meal, and you can't beat the refillable coffee for value most of their machines have decaf options, also I can't eat a lot so always have the small pub classic meal, usually fish but they'd run out and it's enough food for me.nThis one had lovely decor and probably the best array of seating I have seen in a JDW. I find most of the toilets are upstairs which I struggle with, but they all have a disabled toilet downstairs so I carry a radar key as a lot of disabled toilets need one. Really appreciated the farming theme and decor. It was a very hot day and the air con was so good that we had to put our jackets on . Service was excellent. There is a carpark right outside the door which we got our LWB Campervan into. Parking Free after 6pm.
Have spent the whole of my evening thinking about our negative experience here. I came with my two young children and friend. We sat in a side room cause I am very aware of the clientele and didn’t want my kids to cause too much disturbance. When we sat down we were immediately asked to move as we were “blocking a fire exit”, which actually turned out to be the staff’s exit … the staff could not have been more hostile towards us being there. My friend then took my son around the bar to potter about as he was getting restless and she said the staff were rude and impatient with her. I took my son to the bar and the female manager refused to serve me - she outright ignored me and then served someone else. Then as we were about the leave, the same female manage came up said “oh ok you’re leaving”, as if she was about to come up and ask us to leave! We were in a side room which no one else was in my friend was facing the door and said no one else even tried to come in out of the way and we were made to feel like scum causing trouble.nnIf you don’t want people to bring their children to your establishment, why do you have a children menu?nnAs a mum of young children it is hard enough getting out and about and looking after them. It is made even worse to be shamed by staff for bringing your kids out to somewhere you assumed welcome children.nnPlease do better!!!!
