Outstanding food, we had the steak and chips flat iron to our surprise the accomplishments were considerable, the tomato with sautéed onions particularly good. Also nice touch of side salad and very fresh and prepared well! The steak was cooked as ordered perfectly. Peppercorn sauce perfect. Best chips in a long time and probably the nicest onion rings I’ve had! I don’t normally eat onion rings Had fidgety pie with black pudding to start which had me googling how to make one yes that good To finish head bread and butter pudding, I could have had more but that is just how moreish it was. All in all staff were great we even got visited by the local dog who wanders at night. Super friendly and will be back again, wish this place was in our home town!
Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere but the food was a little disappointing. Cauliflower curry advertised and priced as a main course was very tasty but only the size of a starter. The steak and kidney suet pudding was also very tasty but the top of the pudding was very hard, the knife wouldn't cut it. Not great value for a meal but the friendly helpful staff give a warm welcome.
We stayed at the pub as we were going to a wedding nearby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was absolutely gorgeous - one of the best pub rooms we've stayed in! Breakfast was simple but delicious - toast, croissants, jams, yoghurts, cereals etc. Coffee great. There is also a large tea/coffee table outside the rooms for guests to use, which is a great touch. Everything was perfect, wouldn't hesitate to come back and explore the area more! Thank you!
We popped in with our two dogs just for one drink. The staff and everyone was so friendly. We learnt so much about the area and heard so many stories we had a great time and headed back to our camp site three hours and four drinks later. Amazing surroundings, great beer and live dogs. I returned the next mid day half way around a walk and received the same welcome. Very highly recommended
Lovely atmosphere and good service, however,we were very disappointed with the lamb roast. The lamb was very under cooked and fatty, and we left nearly all of it. The manager however did compensate us with a dessert each at no extra charge!
Beautiful pub in lovely quaint village. However very pricey for what you get. Not very adventurous menu for the price. One waitress seemed a little devoid of training or maybe just devoid of initiative.
Been here a few times and every time it doesn't let you down. The food is superb and the rooms are immaculate. I can't wait to go again just a shame it's only open at weekends as a pub Rooms: Beautiful rooms Food & drinks: The food has always been good I was glad to see they hadn't succumb to the pandemic downturn. Bee back again very soon
Wonderful service from the friendly and smiling staff A lovely traditional pub atmosphere, great food, and my favourite pint Lord Marples from Thornbridge brewery. Just be sure to ask about the pie ingredients if you don't like capers! A magnificent conclusion to the amazing local walks.
Every time we come up to the Peaks, this is our favourite place! It’s a lovely pub, with brilliant and friendly staff. Dog friendly, food is excellent!!!!
Staff were very friendly which made the experience to be honest. Food was very well presented and lovely and hot. The only thing was it little varied in quality across the table but over all great experience hence the 5 stars.
