Best pub in Folkestone for a reliable pint of real ale. I've tried all the pubs and bars in Folkestone. The British Lion is also a proper pub just like pubs used to be. Unpretentious, warm and friendly staff, roaring fire and jolly good beer. The food is above average pub grub, nothing special. Again, it's not trying to be a gastropub. As a lover of real ale I have been back a number of times and never had a duff pint, unlike Kipp's which people rate but I think is seriously overrated!

Very good home cooked food...seriously good portion sizes and very well priced. Most mains are around £10 and there's a great choice including vegetarian options.

Fantastic food, great beers and wine and wonderful staff. We had a great meal here, 3 different dishes, and everything was very fresh and hot. Even the fussiest eater in our group cleared his plate, so I would highly recommend taking a walk through the town to find this pub if you are staying in Folkestone!

Always a warm welcome... quality ales..... fabulous food.....all fairly priced... recommend a visit...you won't leave hungry !...
