Surprisingly good accommodation for the money. A bit dated feeling but all things work. Food is so-so quality but good quantity. Location may be a bit obscure but you can take reasonable walks around in the evening to see fields etc. The lake next door on the map is not really accessible if you don't fancy trekking in mud. But if you don't mind muddy walks it can be stunning at sunset.
Just outside the town. Nearby pub does great food. The hotel encourages a number of delivery restaurants. Good staff. Great breakfast. However Bathroom lights extremely bright LED. Blinding. Dangerous so make sure you leave lights on in the room. You can't see a thing and could fall.
Staff are so friendly and helpful - it would be good if the actual accommodations could reflect the service. Reception and public areas look to have been refurbished recently but the room we were in was shabby. Paint on the room door was yellowed with age and the door itself looked like we were about to go in to a prison cell. Inside the room the paint on the walls was scraped and chipped, the bathroom looked like it hadn't been updated since the 1970s brown tiles, lots of exposed pipes. The shower head couldn't be repositioned as it was loose and I had to stand in a precarious way to get my hair wet ... just glad we were only there for one night.
Nice hotel for the price just a shame they don't make up your room each day. Rooms were a comfortable size. The bed was comfortable. And the shower was good. Also had a decent size car parkRooms: 5/5
Very acceptable place for a few days visit. Rooms were tidy and adequate. Could have done with a few extra drawers in ours, but we had a fridge, so that kind of compensated. The evening meals were ok, the breakfasts filling, however, understandably, they were seriously short staffed, so that makes allowances for the service issues. Although, tbh, I do prefer serving myself, buffet style. All in all, we would go there again.. Deano our driver, made the holiday for me. Witty guy who had us chuckling regularly on our trips out.
Usually never have an issue as I stay regularly at this establishment. However this time has been awful within the space of 30 mins the people at the reception desk gave 2 different people within the space of 30 mins of each other a key to my room once at 11:20pm and the second at 11:40pm. My partner checked in around 7pm as I didn't finish.work till late so hadn't long got to my room before these people let themselves in.
Room was comfy and breakfast was nice but there is very weak signal in the area and they charge £7 per day for wifi while most hotels provide for free ...Rooms: 5/5
For £45 a night, this budget hotel fits the bill. Rooms are a decent size and are clean. My standard room had an ironing board, iron, kettle and hair dryer. There’s lots of towels in the bathroom snd a complimentary bar of soap, but no shampoo, so make sure you bring your own. The hotel is a little bit dated in places and could do with a bit of TLC, but everywhere is in decent order and is clean and tidy. The car park is big and secured by barrier access. Check in was simple and friendly, and you’ll need a driving licence or passport as proof of identity, which is a first for me in a UK hotel. Only negative is that Wi-Fi in your room is an extra £7 per night, although there’s free Wi-Fi in communal areas. The phone reception is good, so I used my phone for internet access.
Went on a bus trip and stayed at the Britannia. Better on the inside then on the outside. Rooms were very clean. Food was ok. We had entertainment two nights which was great. 2 for 1 on drinks for part of the evening. Rooms: Rooms were spacious and very clean.
Room was clean apart from big cobweb above bed and light fitting full of dust. Small fridge very noisy during night and shower was like a power washer but very little heat in water !!! Food on Sat night dinner was worst I have ever had, congealed cold macaroni with cold rubbery over cooked chips!!! Breakfast food looked and tasted better but again cold. Service from certain staff was awful, no polite "good morning can I have your room number"at breakfast, just "room number" barked at you. Certainly won't be back
