The mill may only be small but it was extremely interesting and good value. The volunteers giving guided tours were excellent and were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The mill was started to grind corn specifically for us as visitors. I recommend visiting to learn about both the mill and all of the work of James Brindley.

Arrived late in the day, but still in plenty of time for the guide to take us around on a slow tour.  Very knoweleagable volunteer staff.  Great place to take the children.  Ours loved seeing the wheels move, the stones really grind, the hopper at work.  Our youngest 10 even got weighed on the large  scales, while the other 2 kept calling our Monty Python references aboutducks and witches.  3 storeys, so you get to see all of the workings and hear the complete history.  No annoying gift shop but a few things available suchas postcards.

We booked to go here with our children as it was pouring down with rain. So glad we did! Mark was very welcoming and knowledgeable about James Brindley, the mill and the life of millers. Mark was very engaging and great with the children. It was a nice surprise to see that the mill still works. The children got to pour in the grain and feel the flour!

A little gem! Run by very knowledgeable volunteers, this beautiful 18th century mill was built by James Brindley and still functions. It was interesting to see the water wheel turning and to be shown how it drives the machinery to grind flour. Well worth a visit and a bargain at just £3 per adult.

Fascinating, well worth a visit. You can walk around the mill at your leisure or take advantage of a free guided tour. A must if you are a Brindley "fan boy", like me!

Lovely old water mill still working today and with a fascinating history. Friendly volunteers provide excellent guided tours.  We found free on-street parking available just round the corner.

A wonderful part of history. A fine example of James Brindley and his work. Anybody remotely interested in the Industrial Revolution should visit this historic site. Only still open thanks to its volunteers I found all the staff here friendly and knowledgeable. A great place to visit and learn.

Lovely location to have a walk .. if your a biker it's a nice ride with lots of turns and twists between macclesfield and leek .. I ride it regularly and theres some stunning views ..
